  From the 2022 Collezione Riservata line, it’s basically an Aventus without the pineapple or citrus, though it does leave that very subtle, sweet hint of mango as it dries. The soft leather and oud base give it body and masculinity without losing its aromatic freshness. As I haven’t tried the Zara Vibrant Leather dupe, I can’t compare it objectively, but this Midnight Hour EDP (same as the Icon Collection) projects well and leaves a trail, which is a positive. For about an hour, it releases a rich, cheerful, and optimistic scent, ideal for mild or cloudy days and warm summer evenings. As it dries, it becomes sexier thanks to that leather and oud. Although it’s an EDP, the performance is that of a conventional one; the house prioritises scent over longevity, but it’s forgiven. Recommended? Yes, give it a try. In-store, I thought it was a disappointment, another Aventus, but smelling it on the paper convinced me and I took it home; the sales assistants were delighted with its projection. Without diminishing the hyped Club de Nuit Intense, this is a good option to have in your collection. I suppose there may be other better oriental scents or dupes, but with this Banana, I’m satisfied. The presentation is quality, 75ml bottles under $30, made in the USA. Banana Republic continues to do good work with quality and accessible prices. I’ve already tried Dark Cherry and have Black Platinum at home, both excellent; the Vintage Green is a delight.

Although it’s an EDP, as often happens with Banana collections, the performance on my skin is that of a normal EDP (I think the house prioritises scent over longevity, and it’s forgiven). Recommended? Yes, give it a try. Without diminishing the hyped Club de Nuit Intense, this could be a good Aventus Creed inspiration for your collection.   Creed. They’ve thrown me a curveball, even though it doesn’t quite suit me.
