Descripción

Grenade Petillante by Jeanne en Provence is a floral fruity fragrance for women. Launched in 2023, this composition features an olfactory pyramid designed by an unspecified perfumer. The top notes unfold with mandarin, peony, and blackcurrant; the heart reveals pomegranate, rose, and gardenia; while the base settles on patchouli, musk, and sandalwood.

I picked up a tester of this new fragrance at the local Carrefour and tried it straight away. The pomegranate is very noticeable and gives it a super original twist to something that would otherwise be very easy to wear. I love it when brands dare to include surprising scents that aren’t found in all perfumes. It’s well executed and, luckily, it avoids those blackcurrant and raspberry notes that add so much acidity to fruit fragrances (to the point of making me regret some purchases); here we have a round, friendly, and sweet pomegranate, very sunny. No acidity or synthetic harshness. For those who don’t have the pomegranate scent well in mind – I, for one, never ate a fresh one – it smells like Granadina Cusenier, that extract that was popular in Argentina for kids with soda, or with Cinzano and tequila for the adults. It’s not a gourmand fragrance; it’s more floral-fresh, with many flowers behind the pomegranate. I don’t quite recognise the peonies, but above all, the rose comes through.

I was looking for something similar to Shiseido’s Ginza (I like it but it doesn’t convince me 100%). It has a brilliant quantity/price ratio and the bottle is super Victorian, very Bridgerton style, just like the others by Jeanne Arthes in Provence. The key note is the pomegranate, but it’s not realistic like in Ginza; it’s a syrupy pomegranate, a cocktail of pomegranate and champagne. You can detect the mandarin which gives it freshness and a bit of cassis. Fortunately, it barely smells of patchouli (which is noticeable in Ginza). It’s not a clone of Ginza, but it is from the same family: sweet and synthetic with pomegranate, patchouli, sandalwood, and gardenia. My reviews of these Jeanne Arthes fragrances are on my TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube profiles, @probadoaprobado.

I was looking for this because I like Shiseido’s Ginza, but it doesn’t quite convince me 100%. It has a brilliant value for money and the bottle is super Victorian, very Bridgerton style, just like the others by Jeanne Arthes in Provence. The standout note is the pomegranate, but it’s not realistic like in Ginza; it’s more of a syrupy pomegranate, like a pomegranate and champagne cocktail. You can detect the mandarin which makes it refreshing, and a touch of cassis. Fortunately, the patchouli isn’t as prominent as in Ginza. It’s not a clone, but it belongs to the same family: sweet and synthetic with pomegranate, patchouli, sandalwood, and gardenia.
