It starts just like the original Caron, with lavender in full force, but then the amber adds a touch of class. After a while, the amber, vanilla, and a soft musk take over; the lavender remains, but more integrated. In the end, the vanilla wins with a musk that keeps it going for hours. Performance is decent: projection isn’t overwhelming, but it’s noticeable, which counts. Longevity is also good. It’s masculine, but with that vanilla and amber touch, it suits a woman perfectly. I recommend it for cold or mild weather, though it worked well for me in the heat without being cloying. A great perfume: equally similar to the original at first, but afterwards very different and less dated. I prefer it as it’s more pleasant. Recommended.
It kicks off just like the original Caron with that prominent lavender, but then the amber adds a touch of distinction. After a while, the amber, vanilla, and a soft musk base blend so nothing dominates. Ultimately, the vanilla takes over, kept going by the musk for hours. Decent performance, projection isn’t particularly high, but you can smell it for hours without issue. Good longevity. It’s masculine, yet with that vanilla and amber note, a woman could wear it perfectly. I recommend it for cold or mild climates, though it worked well for me in the heat without being cloying. A great perfume: very similar to the original at first, but afterwards quite different without losing its DNA. Personally, I prefer it as it feels less dated and more pleasant. Recommended.
When compared to the kitchen, it’s as if the great French chefs wanted gourmets to eat less, simplifying recipes while insisting on first-quality ingredients to preserve the original flavour. The same applies to Impact. Although the original ‘Pour Un Homme’ (the vintage literally gets ‘eaten’, not the new version) still shines like a diamond and has many fans, including mine, it has a certain ‘retro’ feel. It is excellently composed but feels a little dated today. Richard Fraysse has taken up this iconic fragrance to modernise it without completely revolutionising it. Impact is drier, greener, denser at the outset, fresh and ‘modern’ compared with the original version, though of course, it lacks the great innovations of the classic. The redundant elements have been removed and the scent trimmed to offer a more specific trail. Here, the notes have been reduced and the focus centred on the essence of Pour Un Homme: the lavender (reduced) and the vanilla, with an amber that blends almost immediately. It is a perfume that gifts you calm and serenity, like when you move to a country house for a while to recover that inner peace that city dwellers lose amidst so much car noise, shouting and the chaos of lights.
