It smells of sweet incense (not like Loewe) and reminds me a lot of Azzaro Visit for Men, but with much greater longevity, around 12 hours. The trail is discreet; it doesn’t seek attention, but it’s a very versatile perfume for the night, suitable for both formal and informal events.
A sweet incense that doesn’t smell like Loewe, very similar to Azzaro Visit for Men but with much greater longevity, around 12 hours. The trail is discreet; it doesn’t seek attention, but it’s super versatile for the night, suitable for both formal and informal events.
Finally an Eau de Parfum from this Joop wonder. Homme Absolute is exactly as sejano77 defines it: powerful and dark for the night. It’s not like the classic Joop Homme that sometimes people ask about or recognise; here the incense rules. The sweetness that lingers I imagine comes from the ylang-ylang. I wish they had added that flower, used in women’s perfumes and sunscreens to evoke summer, so it felt even more so. The longevity is long, a minimum of 8 hours. It’s a good perfume at a very good price, I recommend it, I’m sure it will please all kinds of public.
Finally an Eau de Parfum from this wonder. Joop! Homme Absolute is powerful and dark for the night, with full-on incense and the sweetness of ylang-ylang. Perhaps they would have done better by evoking summer with that flower. It lasts a minimum of 8 hours; it’s a good perfume at a very good price that everyone will like.
JOOP! is an ode to synthetic, honest, and well-made fragrances. The brand is fair and doesn’t disguise its artificiality. They are long-lasting and affordable. This HOMME ABSOLUTE is one of my favourites: a pure oriental with realistic incense, black pepper, and a sensual floral base reminiscent of the palaces of Judea. It has a relation to Encre Noire. It’s unisex, perfect for night and winter. I suspect they will discontinue it soon.
JOOP!: a hymn to the synthetic, honest, and well-made. I start with a nod to the entire JOOP! saga worldwide. Like any neighbour, I don’t focus on anything except what I smell, and I admit: natural or synthetic, oriental or chypre, normal or extravagant, masculine, feminine or vice versa, day or night, winter or summer, young or old. Not always is the natural the only beautiful thing. The internet is the glory of nature, just like medicines, paper, or electricity. I don’t despise the synthetic; art is also synthetic, a synthesis of the mind, nothing found in nature. Neither Beethoven, nor Lorca, nor Monet, nor the Burgos Cathedral are natural, and yet they exist. Nature is unparalleled, but that doesn’t stop the synthetic from being beautiful in its identity. Today in perfumery, the strictly natural is another story. Back to the topic: I’m an ‘off-topic’ without redemption. JOOP! is the paradigm of the synthetic, with that cosmic air of the Koroba Milk Bar from ‘Blade Runner’. I know Homme, Le Bain, Femme, Wild, Absolute, Jump, Go, NightFlight, Red King… they all have that cosmic touch. But the brand is fair and honest: it charges what it’s worth and doesn’t disguise its artificiality. They are long-lasting, linear, and affordable. I like Femme, Le Bain, Homme, and Absolute; others like NightFlight or Go upset my stomach. This JOOP! HOMME ABSOLUTE is one of my favourites. It’s a pure oriental with a precious and realistic incense. The notes on the card are noticeable, even more so. The opening is a bang that makes me recoil, but it lasts less than fifteen seconds. After that chaos, a nearly ecclesiastical incense settles and lasts the whole time. The black pepper is very present, incisive, and spicy. A miscellaneous floral base mixes with the incense, giving sensuality and moving it away from the monastic atmosphere towards the palaces of ancient Judea: rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine, and elderflower. I also notice a slightly carnous, thick, earthy, and spicy cardamom. The oriental sweetness intensifies with tonka bean. The great projection comes from some touch of vetiverol and iso e-super, akin to ENCRE NOIR by Lalique, with whom it has a second-cousin relation. It is as unisex as Toy Boy, Encre Noir Pour Homme, or Dior Pour Homme; I believe all orientals are, as Muslim tastes attest. Its performance is superior and it’s for night and winter. I suspect they will discontinue it soon.
A powerful opening of pepper that fades quickly, leaving a rich scent but with poor projection and short longevity. Ideal for intimate dates with a partner, not for first dates. The skin scent is exquisite.
JOOP HOMME ABSOLUTE smells like Encre Noire de Lalique, though more floral. The incense dominates and gives a vanilla sensation from the tonka, even if it’s not declared. It’s not an olfactory bomb as its name suggests. If you already own the Encre Noire line, you don’t need this. Scent rating 8.0, lasts a maximum of 8 hours. Price: around $40.
I start with what matters most: it’s basically an Encre Noire de Lalique. The concept is very similar, though here Joop Absolute carries the original in its DNA and becomes a bit more floral, but the incense remains the protagonist. It smells of vanilla to me, and although it’s not declared, I believe the tonka gives that sensation; it’s not bad, but personally I prefer Encre Noire much more. Its performance is noticeable, but it’s not a bomb as the ‘Absolute’ in the name suggests. If you already have the Encre Noire or its derivatives like Sport or Extreme, there’s no need to add this. Scent: 8.0. Projection: 2 hours (not a beast). Longevity: a maximum of 8 hours, 6 on the skin. Recommended whenever you don’t have any of the Encre Noire. Note: it costs around $40.
The Maisondieu perfume is very similar to Bentley for Men Absolute. It hasn’t brought me the closeness to Loewe 7 Anónimo, which it was co-created with. It’s not dark, deep, or incense-like; the ylang-ylang takes it to another place. Better to try before buying.
A very faithful clone of Bentley for Men Absolute, yet lacking that darkness and incense touch I was expecting. The ylang-ylang changes it completely, distancing it from Loewe 7 Anónimo. Try it before spending the money.
