Smells almost identical to Nina Ricci’s L’extase Rose Absolue: that natural, intense Taif rose, with a sweet, pleasant opening, just slightly spicier. The main difference is this fragrance stays true to its character for much longer, avoiding the caramelised vanilla finish of L’extase. Absolute Oriental is less potent and has a softer sillage, which isn’t a bad thing—it’s a matter of personal taste; it clings to the skin more but lasts for many hours, easily 8 to 10. It’s very rich and I believe it’s easily unisex, not because it lacks femininity, but because it would smell wonderful on a man too. Ideal for temperate or cold climates; I haven’t worn it in the heat yet, but I think it could be overwhelming.
