Kaleidoscope by Daniel Josier

Many ask what perfume makes men fall in love with women, and my answer is always that taste is diverse and it’s not just the fragrance, but the whole package. Today I’m talking about one that has fascinated me: every time I smell it, I think of a manly, well-educated, perfectly groomed man, like George Clooney. Kaleidoscope is easy to please, full of energy, and has a strength that captivates without being overwhelming. Although it’s unisex, it smells rabidly masculine, alerting your senses and leaving you fresh and in a good mood. Its positive spiral begins with intense, revitalising mint that blends with natural eucalyptus, where green tea appears softly. Then come the pine, lavender, and rosemary, and although juniper isn’t declared, I smell it. When it tattoos itself on the skin, cedar with incense strengthens that manly spirit. The best part is that you never stop perceiving any note; pine, lavender, mint, and cedar bounce around as if you were wearing many fragrances at once. I tried it on myself and my father, and it worked magic on both. It’s a perfume with life and free will. It’s my favourite from Daniel Josier, totally masculine and impossible to fail; it smells like glory. Perfume yourselves and be happy.

Kaleidoscope is that sweet mint found in tin tablets, the sweetest of all. The opening is fresh and pleasant, with a creamy, syrup-like sensation that seems strange when you look at the notes. I think it treads very subtly into gourmand territory, adding a feminine character. In short, something I wouldn’t wear myself. However, it maintains a very positive energy between the mint and that solid heart and base; it’s not a bomb, but neither is it shy. I see it as very suitable for women over 30 at festive events or work environments that demand an above-average image. In sum, it’s a solid creation that, in my opinion, suits them better.

If I had to place this perfume, an Eastern temple or a monastery comes to mind. It’s neither easy nor versatile, but the quality is undeniable. The opening is impressive, brutal, and chaotic; it can give you a shock if you’re not used to that blend of green tea, mint, and eucalyptus. Then it turns herbal-spicy and closes with earthy-resinous notes, always present. It certainly has personality and is different, but it hasn’t won me over enough to buy it.
