It is not for everyone, but if you get hooked, you fall in love. The name says it all: it fills the room, and on my skin it has lasted more than 15 hours.
A marvel! It comes in a set with four decants from Lattafa’s Niche line. It is madness because it smells in reverse: at first, base notes, dark and earthy with oriental leather and quality woods. It can be strong for inexperienced noses. In the heart, a floral note accompanies the dry down. At the end, the initial notes reappear; the dark side softens, and a blend of raspberry and bergamot emerges. It evolves more than Darwin. A total jewel from Lattafa.

A MARVEL! Starting with the packaging, which comes in a SET with four decants of perfumes from Lattafa’s Niche line. Moving to the liquid, this is madness because it is a perfume in reverse; to explain better: in the opening, you smell the base notes. It is a dark, earthy perfume with a very present oriental leather note alongside very high-quality woods. Its opening is strong and may be unpleasant for less experienced noses. In the heart, a somewhat floral note remains throughout the dry down. In the base, you smell the opening notes; that dark part begins to fade, and a slight blend of raspberry and bergamot notes appears. This perfume evolves more than Darwin’s theories. This makes it a complete jewel from Lattafa Est.
And the oud, gentlemen? Do not tell me there is none, because it is there and noticeable. It is beast mode: potent, intense, and not for everyone. But that is where the bargain lies. Lattafa, which I did not have much confidence in, has surprised me. The Arabs are pulling out beasts, and King of Arabia is proof. I will not go into notes, openings, or dry downs; you must experience it on the skin, try it calmly, and draw your own conclusions. In summary: an overwhelming perfume that commands respect.
And the oud, gentlemen? Do not tell me there is no oud here… because it is there, and it is noticeable. This perfume is a beast in every sense: potent, intense, and definitely not for everyone. But that is exactly where the charm lies. Lattafa, a house I did not have much faith in before, has surprised me with this creation. The Arabs are pulling out true beasts, and King of Arabia is proof of that. I will not delve into notes, openings, or dry downs. This must be experienced on the skin, tried calmly, and your own conclusions drawn. In short: an overwhelming perfume that commands respect.
It is a bomb. For me, it is like a version of Al Areeq Silver, especially as it dries down, but with an initial touch of red berries that the latter lacks. It is not for people who dislike dark and smoky notes. Nor is it youthful, nor do I recommend it for daily wear, the office, or informal outings. When you put on a black suit, white or black shirt, and shiny black shoes, this is your perfume.
The fruity opening lasts mere seconds; do not be fooled into thinking it will be sweet. It is dry, smells of carpentry with sawdust, very intense and strong. If you are not accustomed to these profiles, it may feel heavy. But if you already know oud, you will be fascinated. Very woody and strong, yet with the elegance of the iris root, a watery and powdery note with a fruity base. After eight hours on the skin, it becomes cosy: half wood and half comforting, sweetly vanilla. Definitely not for enclosed spaces unless you want everyone to suffer. And for your own good, do not wear it under the sun or in the heat, as the intensity may give you a headache. Furthermore, the elegant packaging includes samples of four fragrances from their Niche line, which are also beautiful.

On 9th February 2026, I confirm the fragrance has been reformulated: it no longer smells of heavy oud as before. If that note is present, it sits in the base. What stands out are the fruity elements, like raspberry and citrus, blending with the sweetness and oud. Ideal for going out at night or wherever you want to make an impression, in semi-formal or formal looks. The packaging remains incredible, as Lattafa has come to expect.
On 9 February 2026, I noticed the fragrance had been reformulated; that heavy oud note everyone mentioned before doesn’t feel the same. Don’t get me wrong, the oud is still there but it’s now in the background. What really stands out are the fruity notes, reminiscent of raspberry and citrus, which then blend with the oud and its sweetness. It’s the ideal perfume for going out at night or wherever you want to make an impression, perfect for semi-formal or formal occasions. The packaging remains incredible, just as Lattafa has always kept us expecting.
