Description

Konig by Yosh is an aromatic woody fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2013, this composition was created by perfumer Yosh Han. The olfactory pyramid unfolds with top notes of cypress and sage; a heart evoking red apple, woods, Egyptian papyrus, and winter bellflower (Galanthus); and a warm, persistent base of woods, vetiver, leather, white musk, and amber.

It’s worth clarifying that the 2013 Eau de Parfum no longer exists; this is the new 2020 Eau de Fraiche. The opening smells of alcohol, fruit, and ripe apple (which was a heart note in the original, but here it’s upfront), followed by woods—a strange blend at first. Then papyrus enters, adding a dry touch that, combined with the initial greenness, creates something interesting. Although leather isn’t listed in the notes, it’s there: a dirty jacket-style leather, similar to La Yuqawam. So far, so good; it could have gone somewhere, but it’s like starting a race from the finish line, only to run out of petrol before shifting into top gear. It lacks power, projects nothing, and that green-leather interplay fades onto the skin almost immediately. It stays alive for another hour before starting to fall apart, leaving a dark vetiver that lingers almost alone for a while longer. It’s a pity because something was building up, but the balloon burst before the knot could be tied.
