It is a fascinating perfume. My selection was the absolute; every product in this line is intoxicating, with a clear objective: the effect it causes on the wearer. Artistically unsurpassed.
Another distinct fragrance from Fueguia 1833. The curious thing is that those who barely wear perfume are the ones who highlight it. The blend of vanilla with blackcurrants is pleasant, sweet, and bitter all at once, very well balanced. I would love to wear it already, in cooler temperatures, but it is currently hot in Argentina. Good projection and longevity. First-rate raw materials, nothing generic. Another masterpiece from Fueguía. La Cautiva gets 10 points. Warm regards from Argentina.
As Borges would say in ‘The Two Who Dreamed’, sometimes the greatest treasure lies in the ‘heart of one’s own garden’ rather than a ‘distant land’. In that regard, La Cautiva and Fueguia 1833 were a most delightful surprise: high-quality Argentine niche perfumery. We let ourselves be swept away by trends, thinking the best is always abroad, but sometimes the opposite is true. Fueguía is artisanal, using natural ingredients from Argentina at friendly prices here (though expensive abroad). Their philosophy is sustainable, and the quality proves it. The house pays homage to the history of cultural clashes, from Misiones to Darwin. La Cautiva, based on Echeverría’s work, is a controversial yet beautiful scent. It is not floral-fruity as Fragrantica claims, but a musky gourmand with vanilla and blackcurrants. It is simple and complex, sensual and tender all at once. The blackcurrants prevent it from being cloying, airing out the blend. Intoxicating sweetness, nothing heavy. Scent: 8.5/10, Sillage: 7/10, Longevity: 7/10, Versatility: 7/10.
La Cautiva is probably one of the finest gourmands you could find. Sweet and edible, yet nothing too invasive; a perfect balance between vanilla, fruity/spirity notes, and caramelised tones. It feels natural, solid, and extremely long-lasting. I absolutely love it; it reminds me of a crème brûlée or vanilla flan. The only ones that come close are Fire at Will by Jovoy and Andalusian Soul by TMOV, but this one from Fueguía is superior in ingredients. Although the price-to-quality ratio is tricky, I personally believe the high price is worth it for how suggestively delicious it is, or at least deserves a try if you’re a fan of the profile. Rating: 9.5/10. Format ‘Bitacora de Composición’, Fueguía Chile. Thanks to Melanie.
