  Nothing beats the thrill of finding a great fragrance. Lacoste Elegancia is as original as its oriental fougère family. At first, it smells of leather, chocolate and intense, almost boozy spices, perhaps due to the citrus notes. Unlike the traditional Pour Homme (discontinued), which I avoid due to poor projection and longevity, Lacoste Elegancia is a real surprise: it’s sharp and impactful. Its dark scent, almost gourmand with sweet leather and bitter chocolate, lives up to its name: elegant, like a suede jacket with chocolate and spices. It lasts over 10 hours, perfect for the evening as summer ends, developing all day through autumn and winter, and is very versatile in that weather. Recommended? Yes, but the rule is always to try before you buy.

  Nothing beats stumbling upon a great fragrance. Lacoste Elegancia is as distinctive as its oriental-fougère family. Initially, it smells of leather, chocolate and intense, almost boozy spices, likely thanks to the citrus notes. Unlike the discontinued Pour Homme, which I avoid due to its weak projection, this one is sharp and impactful. Its dark, gourmand aroma, featuring sweet leather and bitter chocolate, truly lives up to its name: elegant. Imagine a suede jacket with chocolate and spices. It lasts more than 10 hours. Ideal for the evening as summer fades, it develops all day through autumn and winter. Very versatile. Recommended, but always test it first.

  Travelling to the US I stumbled into a perfumery that rarely runs promotions but on this day they did so I seized the opportunity. As they don’t allow extensive testing I came across this gem and bought it blind relying solely on English reviews. While we all know this house’s coloured fragrances are popular their quality sillage and longevity leave much to be desired so serious fragrance collectors will likely overlook them. For gourmand lovers however it’s an excellent choice: the opening is creamy with a slight boozy note and sniffing it instantly brightens your mood. It then evolves into a subtle blend of vanilla chocolate and cajeta imparting an air of refinement sophistication and elegance. It lives up to its name Elegance in every way; I’ve worn it to formal events and received countless compliments. It’s sweet soft warm creamy and leaves an exquisite trail. Naturally seductive. The bottle exudes class and finesse; the liquid is amber/golden like a fine wine with the brand name etched at the bottom. On the reverse it’s chrome-finished with no text to keep the image pristine featuring only the crocodile emblem on the cap. On me it evokes a neat upright and holistic personality: not the man with a grandiose image but an empty interior but rather someone confident with sound thinking philosophical wise and sensitive capable of demystifying life’s mysteries.
