  • It’s basically the same essence as the original Le Male but fresher. Don’t get confused: freshness doesn’t mean less longevity. I put it on my arm and it lasted until the next day.

  • I went to look for the new Gaultier Essence and as they didn’t have it, they offered me this one in a paper wrapper. I was captivated by the super fresh opening with mint and bought it on the spot. The dry-down reduces the projection but keeps the freshness, though it becomes sweeter. After 5 or 6 hours, I didn’t like it at all; it turns into a weak, unpleasant synthetic trail. I understand it’s an eau fraîche and doesn’t last long, but I don’t compare it to the classic; they are very different.

  • Just bought it and it smells like the original but softer, with a hint of mint and water that makes it perfect for daytime. I love the Popeye bottle; it gives a sense of strength, sea, and fun; it’s a collectible piece with a great aroma. Highly recommend, greetings from Mexico!

  • Excellent scent, incredibly fresh for warm weather. On my skin, which is one of those that doesn’t fix anything, haha, it has moderate longevity, leaning towards short-lasting. I like its similarity to Le Beau Male, although Le Male Popeye is more long-lasting and sweet. It strikes me that on the JPG website they mention within the three predominant scents mint, neroli and fabric softener… could it be laundry softener? Excellent and highly recommended; with a bit of humid heat, the trail activates more leaving a very pleasant scent.

What a lovely scent! I use it for school when it’s hot and it’s super sweet, but be careful: if you overdo it, it becomes cloying. The worst part is that it doesn’t last long, max an hour before it fades. Still, I’m a huge Jean Paul fan.

Excellent aroma, fresh and incredible for the heat. On my skin, which doesn’t hold anything, it has moderate longevity, leaning towards short. I like its resemblance to Le Beau Male, although the Popeye is more long-lasting and sweet. I’m surprised that on the JPG website they list mint, neroli, and softener… could it be for clothes? Excellent and highly recommended; with humid heat, the trail activates more and smells very good.

It resembles the original Le Male a lot, but this one has a more intense mint, vanilla and sweet, bubblegum-like smell. If you want a different touch from the classic Le Male, I recommend it. This 2017 version of Superman came out, which is the same scent as Popeye Eau Fraîche.

It’s very similar to the original Le Male but with a stronger mint, vanilla, and a sweet gum-like note. If you want something different from the classic Le Male, I recommend it. This 2017 version is the Superman one, which smells exactly like the Popeye Eau Fraiche.

It smells very much like Versace Eros, only this JPG has a strange smell I don’t like; I have no idea what note it is. Versace Eros is much better in every aspect: scent, projection, longevity, and even price. I recommend Versace Eros more. Scent 5/10, trail 5/10.

It smells very much like Versace Eros, but this JPG has a strange note I don’t like; I can’t quite identify it. Versace Eros is superior in every way: scent, projection, longevity, and even price. I recommend Versace Eros more highly. SCENT 5/10 Sillage 5/10

I bought this fragrance from YouTube videos, purchasing it without smelling it; my expectations were very high. When I first smelled it, I was a little disappointed. So far, I’ve never received a direct compliment; longevity is moderate, projection from moderate to low; it’s not a fragrance to make yourself noticed when you pass by unless you’ve just applied it, but after one to two hours, the projection is very personal. Regarding the scent, it’s pleasant, somewhat sexy, and I already like it a lot; it’s a fragrance in which you can fall in love after some time, not a love at first sniff, but very pleasant. If you’re going to buy it, keep in mind the occasions you’ll use it for. I recommend it for the gym, for hot days, for situations where you’ll share personal space, like in a car, where you need a light scent that isn’t annoying at close range, or for being at home with your partner. That’s where you can get the most out of it. Keep in mind that after a couple of hours, you need to be somewhat close to smell it. If you want to stand out from afar and with long-lasting scent without reapplying, this isn’t the best for that goal.

Something strange happens to me with Gaultier: this is no exception. It smells similar to Eros but with fewer steroids and an ambroxan base. Delicious, projects for about 2 or 3 hours, but on my skin it has lasted 9 hours even after showering and I can still smell it close to the skin. With Gaultier, they always last well on my skin; I don’t know why they get bad comments about longevity. I’ll keep testing and see how long it really lasts; it left me surprised.

Something strange happens to me with the Gaultiers, this one is no exception: a smell similar to Eros with fewer steroids and an ambroxan base. Rich, it projects for about two to three hours. Now comes the good part: it has lasted nine hours on me, and even after showering, I can still smell it right against my skin. It always happens to me that Gaultiers last well on the skin; I don’t know why they get bad comments regarding longevity, but I’ll keep testing and see how long they actually last for me. It left me surprised…

  • I recommend this fragrance for nights in enclosed spaces where there isn’t much alcohol or tobacco smell. The Eros doesn’t last for me at all, but this Gaultier lasts eight hours or more without issues. And during the day! Without over-applying, its projection can become annoying, as it has happened to me, haha.

  • A delight! Simply magnificent and in my opinion the best version of Le Male. It’s vanillaised, citrusy, a sort of lime with a touch of lavender. It’s like a refined version of Le Beau Male mixed with Le Male, a citrus-aquatic touch, and I even sensed a note of bubblegum. Very delicious, wearable and long-lasting. I find it very sensual.

  • It smells like chewing gum to me, a winter fragrance, be careful, it’s a heavy scent; sometimes I wash myself to make it diminish. Le Male is my favourite, but its flankers are far below.

It’s a senseless unicorn housed in a gorgeous bottle that fits Popeye perfectly. Beyond being a limited edition, the scent is the true star. Contextualising 2016, just as there is now a phosphorescent tonka bean rain, many followed the success of Versace Eros (2012) by copying its structure; Le Male Popeye is that feedback loop. The opening is good: perceptible neroli and airy aldehydes reminiscent of Allure Homme Sport. Fresh, aquatic, and ideal for heat. Then it settles, leaving a soft, green ambroxan without individualising the rest, but with that green halo perfect for summer. The vanilla-tonka combo from Eros EDT begins to emerge: fresh yet synthetic and plasticky vanilla, powerful and sweet, allowing use in intermediate seasons. It’s aromatic, ozonic, green and sweet, with a synthetic base. It’s not exclusive, relying on notes from years past; it smells well and is worth what it cost, no more, no less. Another matter is the collector’s scarcity. A beautiful interpretation of Le Male, similar yet sufficiently distinct not to appear as a flanker when worn. Ideal for intermediate seasons, good all year round, without great fanfare, for casual or daily use, lacking the elegance for other situations. Lasting power is good, projection moderate. The charm lies in these special editions; one should keep some on the shelf to use with joy, without fear of running out, as the new ones with simple, soulless bottles are dull in comparison to these mid-decade Eau Fraîche releases.

  • A senseless unicorn created by the masses: the bottle is gorgeous and sits perfectly on Popeye. Beyond being a limited edition, the key is the scent, which delivers on what a perfume should be. One must contextualise 2016; just as we now have deluges of perfumes with unbearable tonka bean and phosphorus notes, back then, following the success of Versace Eros in 2012, many capitalised on that path to achieve similar success. So this is a feedback loop, an endless cycle. The opening is good: Popeye gifts us a very perceptible neroli alongside airy aldehydes reminiscent of the start of Allure Homme Sport. It’s fresh, with airy and even aquatic tones, possessing the weapons to combat the heat. However, these notes fade without disappearing entirely in the first phase. The heart, with several notes, I only perceive a soft ambroxan with green nuances; I can’t individualise the rest, but I do sense that green halo emphasising it’s made for the heat. Here emerges the vanilla-tonka combo, just like in Versace Eros EDT: a fresh, synthetic, plastic-like, potent vanilla that adds sweetness. It means that, while initially aimed at hot weather, it also serves in intermediate seasons where neither cold nor heat is oppressive. It’s an aromatic-ozonic, green and sweet fragrance, with a sweet and synthetic base. It’s not exclusive, basing part of its scent on compositions that had been around for years; it smells good, worth what it cost, no more and no less. Another matter is the collector’s angle and the scarcity that drives up the price. A lovely interpretation of Le Male with which it shares similarities, but it diverges enough so you wouldn’t know it’s a flanker upon smelling it. Ideal for intermediate seasons but works well all year round; a fragrance without great flash or pretensions, for casual or everyday use, lacking the elegance other situations might demand. Good longevity and moderate projection. The charm is that they are special editions, but it would be nice if some stayed on the shelves to be used with joy without fear of them disappearing once finished; otherwise, we might find new editions with simple bottles and no soul, bad in solemnity compared to these Eau Fraîche from the mid-decade.
