Descripción

Le Male Lover by Jean Paul Gaultier is an oriental vanilla fragrance for men. Launched in 2024, this composition was created by Natalie Gracia-Cetto and Quentin Bisch. The top notes reveal a vibrant blend of white pepper and caviar lemon; the heart unfolds an elegant fusion of ambergris, marine notes, and musk; while the base notes complete the olfactive pyramid with a warm and enveloping mix of vanilla and woody accords.

  • What do you mean the notes are incomplete and it smells like One Million? I hope that’s not true.

  • molletmod.73

If they removed the lavender from the classic Le Male, it’s left with vanilla, amber, and spices, which gives it a bit of a kick and modernises it. It comes in a cool new design bottle, sailor tattoo style. Does it smell good? Yes, it’s made to please everyone. Original? Not at all, it’s just another vanilla for the office. Only for fans of the saga, the brand, or collectors. Is it an LGTBQ+ fragrance? Of course, and with great pride, mate. Fragrances and capitalism don’t understand sex. If you like it, wear it and enjoy it; what others say is irrelevant.

  • What a fuss you lot make about everything labelled ‘gay’; you’re exhausting. I wear the most hetero perfume and I don’t hate anyone. Without labels or genders, let’s just put them on and smell what makes us feel good and what we like.

  • It’s strange to see that even though I’ve never heard of it, it magically reminds people of other fragrances.

  • It surprised me with its longevity. I put it on at 3 pm and it’s almost midnight; after showering, I can still smell it. The scent is good but nothing new. In my opinion, it seems like a lighter Le Male Le Parfum with a touch of pepper.

I’m not a huge fan of Jean Paul Gaultier, but this is the second one I own. It smells the same as the others, just a bit more modern. The DNA is identical; I’ve worn it for a day and it lasts over 6 or 8 hours. I quite like it; it doesn’t feel as heavy as other fragrances in the range. It’s nothing original—many people buy it for the design, which is understandable. If you’re a fan of the brand, you’ll like it; if you’ve never tried it and hate excessive sweetness (as I do with Le Beau), it will suit you. I’ve worn it for a day and perhaps my opinion will change with time.

  • A limited edition for collectors of muscular male torsos. Within the Le Male line, it has no resemblance and shares nothing of the original DNA; it leans much more towards the 1 Million Parfum, that sticky part of the neroli. It doesn’t add anything new, but personally, it doesn’t bother me. I’m not going to talk about longevity yet as I’ve just received it and don’t want to draw premature conclusions, but I can see it’s unlikely to last short.

  • Just tried it and it’s 98% identical to the 1 Million Parfum Edition. I previously thought it was 90%, but now I see it’s almost the same. It lasts even longer than the original, although perhaps it has a slightly sweeter touch at first; later on, they become completely indistinguishable. If you don’t like the 1 Million or loathe it as I do, don’t even think about buying this; I’m telling you from the heart.

  • It has the vibe of My Soul Supreme from Mercadona and other products from the chain, with that base they use so much, the famous and wrongly named ‘Mercadonade’, which pushes people away. Total disappointment. I’m not saying they are identical, but if you know these perfumes, it reminds you of that. Naturally, it will have better quality, but with such a cool bottle, I expected something novel, and it’s not. Your face will remain like when you try the Mercadona ones: none of them convince you. (For those in Spain who know My Soul Supreme, lower your expectations. Only for collectors). Acceptable longevity.

A very summery fragrance, perhaps due to the sunscreen smell it conveys. I was very disappointed by the scent, although it has its charm. If you don’t tell anyone you’re wearing it, they’ll think you’ve come from the beach, but not in a good way. JPG has disappointed me, although the bottle design is one of the best; no one can deny that.

Another limited edition focused for collectors of muscular male torsos. Within the Le Male line, there’s no resemblance; it shares nothing of the original DNA, leaning much more towards 1 Million Parfum, that sticky part of the neroli. It adds nothing new, but personally, it doesn’t bother me. I won’t comment on performance yet as it just arrived and I don’t want premature conclusions, but I find it unlikely to have short longevity.

  • Nothing resembling any other JPG, a very different scent with ambergris very present. I have mixed feelings: the smell is good, but the base is very dense and heavy, and in my opinion, it adds nothing to the balance.

  • Anyone who’s been in this for years knows that Jean Paul Gaultier’s summer launches generate a lot of attention. Those perfumes with the Popeye or Superman aesthetics left a mark, perhaps more for their value after being discontinued than for the scent; they never really convinced me, but I managed to get the special editions. With Le Male Lover, I expected something similar to the previous ones, but there was none. The blue, semi-transparent bottle hides a spicy and sweet opening. It moves away from the classic Le Male and its recent versions, but evolves towards other known aromas. I detect a sunscreen smell, a salty and sweet base that blends with the vanilla, less overwhelming than I expected. The scent is linear, ending in vanilla accompanied by sandalwood. It’s not a groundbreaking smell; I’ve liked it more than the Eau Fraîche versions of Popeye, Superman, or André, as there’s no ‘Fraîche’ here. It’s a carefree, youthful, and cheerful fragrance, without being tacky, ideal for casual use in the hot months. The longevity is good, lasting 6 or 7 hours; the first hour and a half is noticeable without effort, forming a personal bubble. Its negatives are that it’s a limited edition that will disappear soon, which limits its use if you like it very much, and the resemblance to 1 Million Parfum, that one with the dominant solar neroli and sticky, sweet trails, which has been Paco Rabanne’s most innovative move and will surely be coveted by collectors. Here you have a more restrained and usable aroma, but that’s the direction it’s heading. It will probably pass without much fuss, lasting as long as it takes Jean Paul to release another perfume, but it’s not a bad idea to try it to know in the future that it wasn’t the right one, no matter how much people praise it.

  • Daniipntr

Tested in a shopping centre with two sprays: it remains very derivative to my nose with the Le Beau line. I was taking my mother, knowing I own several from the line, and she said: ‘Smells like coconut, similar to the ones you already have’. Totally true. Without being identical to the Le Beau or Scandal EDT, they resemble each other too much, although they have a differential note that isn’t excessive. Given what I’ve said, I don’t see it as relevant, but it smells very good.

  • Eucalipto

Anyone who has been in this for years knows that JPG’s summer releases generate buzz. Perfumes with Popeye or Superman aesthetics left a mark, perhaps more due to their value post-retirement than their scent; they never convinced me, but they made me try every special edition. In Le Male Lover, I expected some hint of the classics, but there was none. The blueish, semi-transparent bottle hid a spicy and sweet opening. It distances itself from the classic and recent versions, yet it doesn’t escape existing aromas. I perceive a sunscreen smell, a salty-sweet background blending with a less thunderous vanilla than expected. Here the scent becomes linear, dropping to a vanilla with sandalwood that isn’t bad just because it’s known, but won’t surprise anyone. It’s not groundbreaking or creative. I liked it more than the Eau Fraîche versions of Popeye, Superman, or André, precisely because the word Fraîche doesn’t appear here. It’s carefree, jovial, and cheerful, without falling into tackiness. Used casually at any time, mindful of the heat. Longevity on me has been good, lasting 6/7 hours: the first hour and a half without effort until it fades into a personal bubble. Its negatives: it will be withdrawn soon, limiting use and accessibility if you like it, and its resemblance to 1 Million Parfum, that one with dominant solar neroli and sticky notes, Paco Rabanne’s innovative move that will surely be coveted. Here you have something more restrained and usable, but that’s where the scent goes. It will probably pass without praise or glory, lasting as long as it takes to release another, but it’s not amiss to try it to know it wasn’t the right one, no matter how much people praise it.

  • emporioblanko

A false love, expensive, just to turn the page and a deception for anyone who buys it.

  • LosPerfumesDeJavi

I went without expectations as Gaultier have disappointed me lately, but I was pleasantly surprised. The scent is super potent; even after showering, I could still smell it on my hand. It’s sweet, vanillic, and features ambergris which sweetens it further. I don’t detect much pepper. It’s agreeable; I can’t recall any other Le Male, nor does it smell unique, yet it has something different from current offerings. I’d say it’s fresh yet warm; ideal for the shoulder season, it might be overpowering in summer. A surprise; perhaps I’ll buy a bottle. The packaging is beautiful.

  • It’s simple and easy to wear, nothing original or extravagant but it’s ultimately a very well-executed fragrance with great projection, longevity, attractive and modern. I see it as versatile for both occasions and seasons, I recommend it 100%.

  • Smells of vanilla and tonka bean; strangely, it feels like a clone of One Million. It uses the same mass-market notes that Puig employs in all its monthly releases; it doesn’t smell bad, but it gets easily lost among so many copies. JPG has been nothing but JPG for a long time. The bottle is a 10, the scent quality is a 6 (like CH or Paco), longevity 8, sillage 7, and originality 3.

  • Seba Rota

Just acquired, I like Le Male Le Parfum, but it’s too heavy for the day, let alone for the heat… I see it as a fresh, versatile, and more informal Le Male Le Parfum.

  • It’s difficult at this stage, after almost 30 years, to keep making flankers for Le Male. But in this case Natalie Grace Cetto has resolved it well. In the dry down it resembles Le Male Eau Fraîche, without being identical. This Lover has its own imprint. It’s different. It stands out for its longevity on skin, reasonable as it is an Eau de Parfum, but also in its projection and trail. It’s a very well-executed fragrance, whether detractors of the torso like it or not. Things as they are. Is it worth it? Clearly. My advice would be to use it during the day, as in the final stage of the dry down it throws a soapy, clean scent, frankly unthinkable if we consider the scent of its opening. It’s a fragrance that mutates and gives a 180-degree turn between its opening and its base notes. Pleasantly surprised. One could say Jean Paul Gaultier has known how to do it again. He gave an interesting twist to the whole line with this new “Lover” version.

  • MarianoAvv

Nothing innovative, a scent very similar to Le Male Le Parfum and other Le Male editions. But by no means is it a complaint, on the contrary, I think it’s a good perfume, lasts well, projects well, and has good performance. It’s versatile and fulfils its function very well. Nothing extraordinary, but something that leaves you satisfied.

  • diego2020

I tried it and was surprised. I thought it would be a sweet aquatic, but I didn’t feel the aquatic. It’s a sweet that repeats in Invictus Victory, Parfum, Phantom… It’s rich, but honestly, something repetitive.

  • I don’t understand the hate, this is a limited edition of Le Male, clearly it carries that DNA. Did they expect it to smell like Hacivat? If you like Le Male, you will like it. This flanker reminds me of a mix between Le Male Élixir and Le Male Le Parfum, well executed. Longevity and projection are good, in my case it’s not a bomb as they say. I don’t know, let go of prejudices, try it.

  • What happens to me with this fragrance is very particular. I am a fan of ALL Le Male scents. It doesn’t resemble any of the line, although it gave me a vibe of Le Beau due to the citrus opening only. It lasts a very long time, a very long time! It’s incredible how with one spray on clothes from a week ago it’s still detectable. On skin after 9 hours it’s still there. Yes, it’s very linear but it’s super well-rounded in its notes. It’s very well thought out to please. It’s very masculine and versatile for both seasons and occasions. If you’re looking for something original, no; if you’re looking because you like Le Male, not necessarily, but try it before buying. In my opinion, it’s one of the perfumes that surprised me the most in years.

  • Charlieq08

It’s a captivating fragrance: slightly spicy with a subtle but very pleasant sweet note that accompanies the perfume throughout its life. As it dries down, it gets better and better because its sweet facet becomes more noticeable. It’s easy to wear and enjoy. Although it’s very long-lasting and projects quite well in the first hours, it’s worth saying it’s not as potent as other JPG offerings like Elixir or Le Parfum. This proposal leans more towards the soft side, which in my opinion makes it more versatile and, to a certain extent, more elegant.

  • Jose Luis Tov

I was looking for an alternative to Sauvage EDT, not because they are similar scents, but because I wanted something for any occasion that was fresh. Having Le Male Le Parfum, which is one of my favourites (it caught my attention strongly at first but was too strong until it became one of my favourites, even I perceive it as stronger than Le Parfum), this one seemed fresh and leaves a very rich trail. Not to mention it has excellent projection. Lasts about 8 hours with a projection of 4, the bottle is no joke. I love it, I think it was the first thing that caught me. If you like Le Male and Le Male Le Parfum, you will absolutely love this alternative.

  • I can’t compare it to other limited editions of ‘Le Male’ as this is my first, but it’s frustrating that proposals like this remain limited and don’t become permanent. This is a fantastic fragrance I haven’t found in a while. Le Male Lover is undoubtedly aquatic, opening with a very pleasant pepper note. All this is supported by a fairly dark, perhaps slightly bitter vanilla base that envelops the marine notes and, along with the musk, enhances a scent that was already masculine, making it charmingly so. No nearly feminine sweet smells, nothing usual. It’s designed specifically for confident, proud men who want to smell good, sexy, and different, because this doesn’t smell like the usual stuff and does it excellently. Perhaps that’s why they made it a limited edition. I’m thinking of buying a couple more bottles if I can still find them. I want to have more of this forever. Scent: 10/10. Longevity: 7/10. Versatility: All year, any occasion. Verdict: This is Le Male with testosterone. Impossible not to like, it moves away from the usual and is a unique scent.

  • I’m not one to buy limited editions from JPG, but I saw it at a good price and picked it up. It’s the result of a wild night where Le Beau and Le Male Le Parfum ended up in bed together (no joke, given JPG’s LGBT themes). Seriously, it’s a mix of both, the offspring of both, the middle ground. It has the freshness and tropical air of Le Beau, with the spicy, sweet heart of Le Parfum. I like both, so I expected to like this. The opening has the air of Le Beau but is less strident, calmer and softer. Within minutes, you feel the spices of Le Male, and for quite some time, both sides dance: that beachy note (I don’t think it’s coconut as others say, but it’s the same vibe) united with sweet spices. What I dislike most is the finish: it leaves a trendy vanilla, overly sweet from Le Beau, which feels tacky and unclassy, like One Million or Stronger with You. I give it a good rating; it works well in informal settings and will surely please the women in my circle. It’s usable during the day, but I think it suits night better, specifically summer clubs. It feels youthful to me (I’m 45). It’s curious that JPG was the brand of my generation’s twenties, yet instead of growing with us, it stayed the brand of the twenties. I’m liking it, yes. It’s not a marvel, and I wouldn’t pay the absurd prices I’ve seen from collectors, but if you find it at a normal price, well, it’s not bad. I’ll enjoy it because it’s rich, but it’s not a limited edition I’ll regret later.

  • Puig’s work is laughable. In the end, they use the same chords in almost everything they release for JPG, Carolina Herrera, Paco Rabanne… and everything smells the same. Here, they seemed to have tried to innovate with atypical notes, but they slapped that Scandal base on it, which doesn’t fit the rest. There are hardly any traces of the Le Male DNA. It’s a completely forgettable flanker that deepens the loss of direction in the line. When B.P.I. was in charge, they released good, memorable versions like Fleur du Male or Ultra Male. What Puig does with this saga, apart from the Parfum and Elixir concentrations, is nonsense.

  • Andres Davila

The notes don’t list coconut, but I can definitely smell it. It’s a good perfume, and I’d lean towards this one because it’s less known and many people already own it. It’s like a blend of Le Beau and Le Male Le Parfum.

  • JoseMartin

The bottle is spectacular; it caught my eye immediately, and since it was limited, I added it to my collection. Is it more of the same? I think so; it’s a flanker. The opening resembles Le Beau but softer. Once it dries down, the sweet vanilla becomes noticeable. I was expecting a twist, something different. The projection lasts two hours before dropping to a skin scent for another four hours. My advice: give it a try.

  • Before buying, test it: vanilla dominates, so if you don’t like it, this isn’t for you. It’s sweet and fresh at the same time, but they tried something different and it comes off as odd. Too much vanilla, in my opinion. It’s fine if you want to step out of your comfort zone or vary your collection, but I wouldn’t wear it daily. It’s rich, but not essential. I bought it for the bottle and because JPG was very hyped at the time. I’m not sure if it’s worth it now. The performance is average, slightly better than standard Le Beau, which doesn’t last long. The trail is the same. In conclusion, it’s not essential nor suitable for everyday wear; it’s for variety. If you try it and like it, buy it; it’s not a blind buy. In my opinion, it’s a 7. I wouldn’t regret not buying it, as it usually pleases people, but it is what it is.

  • GammaPerfumería

To me, it’s a mix between One Million Parfum and Vanilla Vibes by Juliett Has a Gun.

  • It opens citrusy, aquatic, and musky with a summer vibe. It evolves into a peppery amber, reminiscent of a barbershop, fresh shaving cream, soapy, and projective. It closes very vanilla in the style of tonka, with plenty of wood and sweetness. It’s good, possessing a summery sensuality, though it ultimately takes on an interesting dark twist.

  • Testermexico

Basically, it’s an Invictus Victory Elixir housed in a Le Beau bottle. I’m not saying it’s bad: it lasts seven hours, projects well, and has a nice trail.

  • I’ve been wearing this on and off for over nine months, and in my opinion, it delivers on what JPG promised. Vanilla dominates completely, suffocating the potent but fleeting opening. On my skin, it lasts about two hours before fading to a skin scent that only reveals itself upon close contact. Most people enjoy it, even when it’s very subtle. It’s ideal for special occasions: spring or autumn evenings, or any time of day in winter. In summer, only for a cool night out or a formal event; the heat really does it no favours. It’s a standard perfume that tries more than it achieves; too much vanilla obscures the charm of the other notes. Test it on skin before buying. As a gift, it certainly works.
