  1. Once you’ve spent some time in the perfume world, you realise that while you may like many scents, you eventually develop a preference for a particular type, certain aromas or notes that make you smile and say: ‘Wow! This is one of mine.’ In my case, fougères are high up on my list, as they evoke masculinity, seriousness, cleanliness and a certain old-fashioned class and manners. In my search for a fougère, I came across surprises like this, Marbert Man, a perfume and brand I’d never seen before, and it’s a wonder. A fougère in capital letters, possessing all those characteristics, plus excellent longevity. If you like Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, this fits that line, but it’s more soapy, with a touch of amber, and has a better trail and lasting power.
