Midnight Romance by Ralph Lauren

A friend tried it and won’t stop saying what a pity it’s discontinued; it’s an exquisite perfume that people just can’t get enough of.

I adore it; it looks incredibly sophisticated and elegant. The first time a friend wore it, she wouldn’t stop praising it, and I asked for the name three times in case I forgot. To me, it’s a scent for the night; mystery and romance blend strangely and exquisitely with the smoke and smog of the evening. By day, it’s innocent, but on those chilly autumn afternoons with the fires lit, it transforms! It was on such a day that I first encountered it and felt my skin wasn’t doing it justice until I discovered that combination.

It seems like the daytime version of Tresor Midnight Rose, so much so that I can’t see the logic in the name. ‘Midnight Romance’ sounds passionate, but this is feminine and delicate, like a schoolgirl with a crush. It’s not serious romance, nor is it nocturnal or mysterious. It’s fresh, powdery, and a sweet floral. It’s raspberry with peony (the ambroxan is only noticeable if you know what to look for; there’s no mystery). The iris gives a powdery, tender sensation. It smells very good, but the name doesn’t suit it. I’d call it ‘Secret Crush’; it fits better. It reminds me a bit of Daisy Eau So Fresh, but more powdery and warm.

The only thing I hate is that it lasts so little and is so soft. If it lasted longer and were more intense, it would be the perfect fragrance. It’s incredibly delicate, feminine, and easy to wear daily. I met it through a work colleague; as soon as she walked into the office, I asked what perfume she was wearing because I fell in love at first sniff. Due to my pH, it doesn’t have the same sillage as on her, but I still enjoy using it very much. It puts me in a great mood.

I noticed it was soft after two hours. At first, it felt a bit heavy, very sweet and rich, as if I could eat it, but it didn’t seem attractive or elegant to me.

In my opinion, it’s floral, a little sweet but not cloying, with a very pleasant and feminine scent. On my skin, the longevity is quite good.

Contrary to the previous ones, it lasts HOURS on me. I don’t know why; I’ve tried it several times and people say it smells good after so long, even that the sillage is strong. Personally, I feel it hardly lasts that long, perhaps due to my pH, but I feel very comfortable wearing it. Although my favourites are the sweet ones, I like this floral one immensely; it smells great and everyone notices it.

I liked it, but the longevity is non-existent; as soon as you apply it, it evaporates.

Super rich and exquisite fragrance, though it doesn’t last long, maybe two hours at most. It evokes a sexy, successful woman; to me, it smells of grapefruit and red roses.

I bought it on offer with the cream and gel, but even with both, the longevity isn’t good. It smells lovely, with a strong note of raspberry and flowers. It’s intense, but I’d say it’s for someone younger or more casual, perfect for a spring day. Lasts about two hours.
