A beautiful perfume, but truly only for those who adore roses. It’s often compared to Portrait of a Lady by Frédéric Malle, and while they share similarities, they are distinct enough to own both if you love rose with patchouli (I personally preferred the rose in this one). This combination is usually camphoraceous, but not here; POAL is drier, smokier and spicier, whereas this has a subtle sweetness. The patchouli is more docile and less daring. The rose is the star: up close it can be incisive, but the trail is softly sweet and pleasant thanks to the violet and oud, a masterfully crafted combo (much like in Jo Malone’s Violet and Amber Absolu). Davana and vanilla add extra fruity sweetness, perfectly balanced by the zesty lime and cedar. It’s a stunning, well-executed composition, perfect for unisex wear if you enjoy florals, especially rose. Longevity is excellent, with moderate to high sillage depending on application and weather.
