On my body it’s like this: upon spraying, I hardly smell anything, just alcohol and little more. After a minute, a clean and fresh aroma emerges, very light and close to the nose, which I love. This scent drops in intensity (it’s already weak) until it’s almost imperceptible. At the hour, the magic happens: normal intensity, it changes and becomes more woody than fresh. This lasts three or four hours. The second-phase aroma is totally laundry-like, very subtle. I like it, but I find the performance low (I have to spray it on my hands or arms to smell it well). As an experience, an 8/10; I don’t regret the 30ml, I wouldn’t buy the 100ml.
A scam and a fantasy made into perfume (if it is one), a scent that vanishes… the truth is I don’t understand it. Perhaps with another perfume it gives more longevity or projection. I bought 100ml of Iso E Super for a value three times lower than this bottle of Molecule 01. Marketing and hype wreak havoc on perception. The value of this fragrance is out of context for what it offers. I bought a decant which might not even serve as an air freshener. Regards.
It’s good for layering, smells very masculine. It projects well, but I don’t like using it much because it gives a masculine touch to my feminine fragrances. I only use it if I have no other option to give longevity to my fresh spring and summer perfumes.
I wear it on business trips and always, I say always, people ask what it is. It doesn’t seem very well known. I’m ignorant about the subject but I like it and it pleases others.
What a great name! Molecule 01… it makes me feel like I’m putting on a broth where even the last drop of oil is calculated and modelled. The formula of a perfume mad scientist created to explode, delicate and dangerous. I wear it in winter and its woody scent blends with the tobacco I always wear; what a delight.
It’s not very well known either. To me, it seems like a high-quality perfume. I notice the oils have a high concentration; it shows in the longevity and the trail. The bottle isn’t ‘the latest Parisian fashion’, but I care about the broth; I wouldn’t mind if it came in a dog food tub. I’ve come across many perfumes like this: little known, unadorned, but what’s inside is another planet. This liquid is a real treat.
Marvelous! If you like complicated things, perhaps it’s not for you. I love it: it’s simple and the notes are defined; you can perceive and distinguish them easily. It lasts about six hours on my skin. I’m super happy with the purchase.
It was my favourite in spring and summer. With seven sprays, it left a clean, soft woody aroma that came and went in bursts and lasted all day. Something happened with people: from a distance they noticed it, they approached kindly and then asked what I was wearing because it smelled so good.
I can’t see the trick. I’m one of the lucky ones who either doesn’t smell it or it’s intermittent. At first, yes: woods and musk, neutral, clean and fresh. It’s okay, but if I have to strain to detect it, then I don’t know. After a 5ml decant, drawing conclusions is difficult. I won’t pay what it costs for what it offers. Not on your life. Edit: I’ll give it another chance… something curious, I can still smell it at 2pm.
Smells like light wood, like a school pencil. It doesn’t stick around and it reads more as a man’s scent than a woman’s.
@Victortor has explained the experience with Iso E Super very well. Born in a laboratory, the chemical molecule has no natural equivalent and is a good fixative. They say it smells of soft and velvety wood, like cedar or sandalwood. But on its own it has peculiar behaviour: it smells different on cardboard than on skin. On the latter it appears and disappears in a variable way, although after several hours it can be perceived clearly in the surroundings. Its perception depends on idiosyncratic factors, perhaps genetic, and also on the formulation. Example: @Victortor does not feel the molecule or feels it intermittently, while others still notice it after 14 hours. I am not the only one, it happens to me too and it is a pain. I have a difficult relationship with Molecule 01 and with Terre d’Hermès (which has 55% Iso E Super): the sensations are not very pleasant as I don’t know if I smell it or not, and several hours later I feel it but I don’t know if it is only me or others too. Summary: if many people perceive a fragrance clearly and you find it difficult, nothing bad is happening to you, probably that product contains Iso E Super.
I think this perfume and I do not get along at all. I don’t know if my skin swallowed it, but to my sense of smell I almost perceive nothing. A small intermittent woody scent very subtle that after a moment no longer smells. From time to time I had to press my nose to my wrist and barely appreciated a scent that went away quickly. I wouldn’t pay for one like this because the Iso E Super molecule and I do not see eye to eye.
Tips to know what this smells like, because on your own skin you rarely smell anything. 1: Have your partner or child wear it and you will see how that woody, clean, soft, and velvety aroma that everyone mentions reaches you every now and then. 2: Use it on clothes and at the end of the day, when you shake it, it smells a lot. 3: Trust the aroma and use it when you don’t know what to wear, want to smell good, want it to last, and don’t want to overwhelm or attract attention. In my opinion, it is a lifesaver fragrance.
What can I say. It appears and disappears with the hours. It smells of clean woods and tidiness, although every nose perceives it differently; it is quite unique. You don’t feel it on its own, but others perceive it in a strange way. It is ghostly and mysterious, perhaps like a mad scientist; I think that is its greatest charm. I use it to layer with heavy fragrances in summer and to boost other fresh ones. Two sprays of this equal one of a dense fragrance that could overwhelm in the heat. That said, it doesn’t seem worth the price haha. I bought it on offer. 10/10 Originality, 6/10 Price, Variable 1-10/10 Longevity, Sillage.
Finally arrived, I applied it straight away. I was worried because I read that some people feel nothing due to anosmia to Iso E Super, but fortunately I do smell it and it smells delicious. On my skin, I smell citrus and wood, with a sensation of clean, fresh, naked skin, just bathed… madness. I haven’t even spoken of longevity yet; I only just applied it. I bought it blindly to layer and make my favourites last longer; so far it is a surprise because it makes me want to wear it alone… a wonder.
Essentric Molecules 01: It is a work of grandeur and simplicity. An aroma that awakens pleasure, fascination, and respect, without pretension or showiness. It presents itself as crystal clear and sharp as the scent of something transparent and sublime, generating trust and direct sincerity. To me, it is chemistry made into art: oakwood, the cleanliness and luminosity of musk, with a subtle sweet touch of amber. Result: the scent of a clean, organised, and well-presented person. I consider it strictly masculine. Undoubtedly one of my top 3, my signature. Scent: 11. Projection: Moderate. Longevity: 6 hours. Highly recommended.
Transparent, woody, alcohol at the start, comes and goes, ideal for layering. A base that boosts slightly.

Thanks to a sample from my friend @Mithrandir, I got to try this perfume ☺️. It smells very curious; on me, it is wholly woody and gives a sensation of just having had a shower. It lasts quite a while on the skin (about six noticeable hours) and isn’t overpowering, although I dislike over-applying. It is pleasant and intimate, matching others who say it ‘comes and goes’, making small changes throughout the day without losing its base aroma. I find it charming that it takes on different scents on each skin. I tested it on my family, and for some it was more citrusy or musky, softer. Very grateful to have discovered Molecule 01 😊
I own the original and it lasts a long time on skin and clothes, yet it projects nothing at all; it is pure skin scent. Upon application, it smells of wood, a sharpener, and a new broom, even slightly chemical; once it dries, it turns floral. As I prefer to project wildly, I never wear it this way, nor do I use it to scent clothes. It doesn’t help boost other fragrances either; if I want them to last longer, I simply apply more. Despite being a curious scent, I recommend it not at all.
Greetings. I bought it on discount, I had to take advantage. They moved me with the bit about enhancing the duration of other perfumes. Months later, I don’t know if it achieves that or if, assuming at some point I convinced myself that yes, it was my idea. It smells like clean wood. Yes, I can smell it. I have no idea if the rest can. It gives the impression that they can’t, as it’s subtle and emerges every now and then, but I don’t know.
Sharp, transparent, clean, subtle, for personal enjoyment. The aroma goes and comes like bursts. Perfect for layering.
Unfortunately I am one of the unfortunate ones to whom ISO E SUPER smells bad (when I can smell it). It smells like sweaty socks to me. So I haven’t noticed either the clean scent or the woody notes. What a pity.
Beautiful perfume, it smells like incense and wood, a delight. As for projection, it projects nothing; it’s very discreet but beautiful.
Applause to the chemist who created it… but what has the perfumer done? The alcohol blend? They’re using a cheap 50-year-old molecule selling it at a golden price.
Woody, musky, slightly smoky, totally flat. It acts as an enhancer for other fragrances, even on clothes itself. It’s clean at the start on the nose and slightly dirty at the base. It reminds me of the spicy warmth of ambroxan. It lasts very well for 6 hours with pleasant presence if you move or it’s hot. Then it drops and you have to reapply, not much, but yes, so it wraps around again. It seems to me an excellently expensive scent, excellent because it is, and expensive because I think it should adjust the price. I like it, even to wear it often. Recommend testing it on skin; in my case, perhaps I should look for a close alternative.
Well, I have it and I love it. Although I know I don’t feel it… and then I do… and then I don’t 😂😂😂. But my 12-year-old son loved it and I passed it to him. What a rich aroma I perceive on him. It looks spectacular on him; his t-shirts smell good even after washing. It’s grand. If we accept it as it is, we appreciate it. If we cling to it smelling aromatic like the common stuff, well, no, it won’t be for us. 😉
I was given a decant and call me crazy, but this smells DIFFERENT on every person. I bought it for the laughs… on some it smells more like musk; I tested it on a girl and it smelled INCREDIBLE, sweet, rich and sexy. On me it smells like wood, medium citrus musk and low on aroma. I don’t recommend it for signing or for something specific. IF you are a collector, BUY IT and test it on all your friends.
It seems the new 01 molecules have reduced the potency of the original. That clean cedar trail it used to leave is no longer noticeable. Instead of being a toilet water, it should be an eau de parfum or even a perfume for those with a good nose. Now it smells more like Galaxolide musk with citrus and cardamomy hints than Iso E Super.
Smells like freshly washed skin, musk and woods. It brings me distant memories of my mother’s skin, who always wore Courrèges. It’s incredible: at first it smells like nothing, but then it bursts in waves. Wonderful for my nose.
Mmm…. No. Same for me, but I barely smell anything. After a shower, it’s slightly noticeable. Paying €120 for this seems like a bad-taste joke. I’ve read that some people smell it more than others. I’m one of those who smells almost nothing.
I don’t know if it’s an urban legend that it develops differently on each skin (which happens with all perfumes); I’ve only tried it on mine. For me, it’s faint, discreet, and subtle but persistent, good longevity without a trail. It highlights the wood and a slight musk; generally fresh, like violet, delicate but with an unusual smoky depth. Curious evolution, intense synthetic at first but settles serenely. I find it precious, very particular, not for those seeking flashy fragrances. It’s for personal enjoyment, of elegant simplicity. Abstain, narcissists.
Was this liquid not made to create an ‘aura’ effect and improve the projection of other perfumes? I ask because I see everyone reviewing the smell on its own. I understand it’s a molecular perfume used more as an enhancer. Although not its main function, Molecule 01 and 02 are known for improving the trail and longevity of other perfumes.
I bought a sample at a prestigious and reliable store. On skin, it smells like Montblanc Emblem and CH Men: green cedar, musk, and leather, although in those fragrances it feels much more than in this Molecule 01, where it’s almost imperceptible and you have to press your nose against the skin to smell anything. I don’t know if it has been reformulated; it seems 99% alcohol and 1% Iso Super, practically has no scent. I don’t recommend it; it seems like a scam. If you like it, better buy the fragrances I mentioned.
The opening is a super synthetic chemical smell, like alcoholic solvent. But once it settles on skin, it has something addictive, a faint chemical woody scent that you want to smell over and over. It has little projection but good longevity on skin. I wear it when I don’t want to attract attention and need something discreet. It’s not worth paying the store price; I don’t appreciate the supernatural properties some YouTubers claim.
Fantastic perfume, incredible potency and extreme longevity with a trail that fills rooms, that’s what everyone would want. But the reality: it has lasted me six hours (not bad), but very close to the skin from the start. No trail at all, conveys nothing, and no scents stand out on my skin. I don’t own it and doubt buying it because it hasn’t impressed me. I have the misfortune of having a nose that catches everything and privileged skin. NEVER buy blindly. Most of us seek perfumes that convey, and this, for me, is a disappointing face.
If its only note is Iso E Super, why buy it instead of a direct bottle which is much cheaper?
Incredible to read so much ignorance about this chemical that is more of a highlighter than a perfume. Molecule 01 is a patented form of Iso E Super, a synthetic that smells of wood. It has qualities to add body, improve longevity, act as a fixative, and boost diffusion. Not everyone smells it; it smells different for each person and differently inside than outside. For me, it’s the perfume for those who don’t like perfume, blends well with woody scents and works perfectly to highlight others.
The hype around this perfume has died down, and now I can buy samples without ruining my semester if it’s not what I expected (if I developed anosmia and didn’t notice, it would be a total disaster). At first, it’s pure alcohol, lasting just long enough to make you think you’ve been ripped off with a decant, but then it arrives. It smells chemical, not familiar but locatable. The famous always say it’s ‘clean wood’; to me, it smells like ink, a printer cartridge, a new paperback with plastic cover, smoky but not so much, more like steam or freshly ironed polyester. It’s a simple scent, pleasant but conveying nothing, lacking that emotional response of opening a new book. It lacks no virtue. Fortunately, I smell it every time I wear it; I don’t know if others experience the same, it’s been hard to get opinions. It lasts quite a while, but after eight hours, I can’t detect it anymore. Zero projection, barely audible at skin level. Impossible to be more unisex, it’s like a second skin. I haven’t tried mixing it to see if it improves longevity, perhaps I will, but as a fragrance in itself, nothing extraordinary. The ultimate expression of perfume for when you don’t want to wear perfume, but I think there are more worthwhile options. 5/10.
