  • I had to write this before the last dregs of this miniature ran out, a find I stumbled upon by chance. The beautiful wife of Elvis had her own perfume line; she was a woman who set trends not just through her beauty, but through her style and wit. That sexy, glamorous touch that made her stand out during her romance with the singer continued to shine through her roles in popular 80s and 90s series and films. With the idea that ‘one moment can change your life forever’, she launched her first perfume called ‘Moments’. This chameleon woman, with hair that shifted from the darkest shades to golden and auburn tones, and a style that ranged from ostentatious to relaxed depending on the occasion, simply had to give us a fragrant statement of style that made her presence felt, of those that were like her life: the centre of many gazes. Finding the exact notes of her composition is a little complex, as sources sometimes add or swap notes for similar ones. In general terms, I will speak of its evolution and what I perceive in it. Priscilla Presley’s Moments is an intense, complex, and interesting aldehydic floral with animalic facets; I was struck by the sheer number of aromatic layers. There are white flowers with prominent Jasmine at the start, followed by narcissus, neroli, and Ylang Ylang, but there is also a spicy animalic facet that gives it that voluptuous body. Its deep base rests on a woody/musky/amber triplet (the undisputed hallmark of certain perfumes from the mid-80s to the early 90s). I like to make comparisons as they sometimes help orient us on the type of fragrance it recalls, and thus determine if it is our thing, of course this is subjective to the reader’s sense of smell. For me, it particularly recalls certain aspects of White Diamonds, although the Presley version is a little more animalic and spicy; it is in this phase that I also perceive flashes of Montana Parfum de Peau, earthy and extravagant musk. But Moments asserts its own identity, giving rise to a sweet, slightly dark fruity note, like blackcurrant, which strongly influences its development. So it has aspects that approach fragrances of its era and others where it adds its personal stamp. I believe that for lovers of Sweet Voluptuous Animalic Florals, this fragrance must be on their list. It will also not disappoint fans of Taylor Moments. The projection is exceptionally good, especially for an EDT; it is impossible to miss, this fragrance is a true ‘proclamation’. The longevity is eternal, especially those rich bases that, even as the fragrance fades and becomes powdery, remain present. I loved it!!! My review is based on a 90s miniature eau de toilette with a very amber hue.
