Neroli Negro is a Colombian niche with nuclear power. It opens with an impetuous orange blossom, ripe roses, and a subtle alcoholic note that isn’t whisky. Minutes later, the floral roar gives way to a rose-oud combo reminiscent of Dior’s Oud Ispahan, featuring mesquite and orange blossom woods. It’s like walking into a sawmill: crushed woods with green branches and leaves. As it dries, it becomes less astringent and more velvety, with a resinous oud that’s slightly faecal and medicinal. It’s more potent than Oud Ispahan, a proper beast. It requires care: a single spray lasts all day and is so distracting I don’t wear it to work; instead, at night with four or five sprays, people wonder where the plague is coming from. In Mexico, if someone uses it to overwhelm perfume addicts, we ask: ‘Who’s bringing the dead cow?’

Within minutes, the citrus yields to a rose-oud combo reminiscent of Dior’s Oud Ispahan, featuring mesquite and blooming orange woods. It’s like stepping into a sawmill: crushed woods, branches, and leaves. As it dries down, it becomes less astringent and more velvety, with that resinous, slightly medicinal oud, yet without reaching the intensity of Oud Satin Mood or More than Words. I find it more potent than Oud Ispahan. It’s a beast of a perfume that requires care: a single spray lasts all day, but for going out or to terraces, four or five sprays are needed; people will ask where you got the scent. In Mexico, if someone wears it to dominate perfume addicts, we’ll ask: who’s bringing the dead cow?
The best in my collection, I love it
The best one in my little collection; I simply love it.
It’s an addictive scent, something I don’t want to use up for fear of running out. It performs well on clothes and, once it has matured, the fragrance intensifies even more. The only downside is the price.

As a quick reference, since it’s hard to get hold of in Spain, it smells very similar to Acqua di Parma’s Colonia Intensa Oud. Both share the same vibe; regarding longevity, I still need to test it further across different temperatures, but on my skin, the Acqua di Parma version lasts a treat.
