Descripción
New Ambre Gris 2020 by Pastor Fragrances is an aromatic citrus fragrance for men. Launched in 2021, this olfactory composition was created by perfumer Edgar Pastor. Its top notes of Sicilian bergamot, lime, pink pepper, pineapple, cassis and apple provide a vibrant and fruity opening. The heart reveals jasmine, nutmeg and geranium, imparting a floral and spicy elegance. Finally, the base notes settle with ambroxan, oakmoss, leather, ambergris, Singapore patchouli and Virginia cedar, closing the olfactory pyramid with an amber and earthy depth.

Previously I owned the CDNI and although I like it very much, I prefer the Pastor version. It’s very pleasant and versatile; I haven’t used it much yet, but the impressions are very good. It could perhaps use more longevity, which is approximately six hours, although I insist I need to keep testing it. Everything from Pastor is of extremely high quality and at an unbeatable price; I have several other fragrances and ufff, they are exquisite.
Well, I must say that this version of Ambre Gris had poor longevity at first, so I left it stored in a dark drawer for about two months. Yesterday I tested it: one spray on my wrist and it lasted until the next day. The incredible thing is that it projected after 14 hours on skin, with bursts reminiscent of the CDNI in its final phases (obviously of superior quality). Without a doubt, it’s a perfumazo. My advice: if you buy from Pastor Fragrances, let them macerate for a while and you’ll see the power they all take on… and you’ll receive plenty of compliments.
Better than its predecessor ‘Ambre Gris Aventure’ in scent, but with equally poor longevity, sillage, projection and performance. For a fragrance claiming to be a perfume extract, the performance is very bad. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for an Aventus dupe that actually performs. Better to stick with the CDNI Parfum Limited Edition, which is better in every way. I believe Pastor’s winter fragrances do have great quality: big, well-achieved scents with moderate projection and longevity that create a bubble where you’re smelled for hours.

For a fragrance marketed as a perfume extract, the performance is very poor. Not a good purchase and I wouldn’t recommend it. If you’re looking for an Aventus dupe that actually performs, this isn’t it. Stick with the CDNI Parfum limited edition, which is superior in every aspect. I believe Pastor’s winter fragrances do have great quality: wonderful scents well executed, with moderate fixative, sillage and projection, yet creating a bubble where you’re noticed for hours and they last a long time.
Bought it two days ago and, honestly, I should have listened to the recommendations and not done it. The fragrance disappointed me completely: it doesn’t resemble Creed Aventus at all, maybe a little at the start, but it lasts nothing. Within minutes it’s just skin scent, and after two or three hours it’s vanished, leaving a cheap and simple aroma. It lacks that smoky dry-down found in Creed or CDIM. It’ll end up in the bin of disposable memories. Sorry to my compatriot; I was expecting a pleasant surprise.
I bought it two days ago and should have heeded the recommendations. It totally disappointed me: it bears no resemblance to Aventus, perhaps a little in the opening, but it lasts nothing. It’s at skin scent within minutes and disappears by two or three hours. It smells cheap and simple, lacking that smoky dry-down of Creed or the CDNI. It will end up in the bin of disposable memories. I’m sorry for my compatriot; I was expecting a good surprise.
The scent is exquisite: natural citrus and that typical smoky pineapple of Aventus, very similar to the Bacht versions from 2019/2020. Unfortunately, longevity and projection are disappointing: it projects moderately for the first hour and then fades to skin scent, lasting three or four hours. It’s a disappointment given the tremendous potential of Pastor Fragrances and the aroma achieved.
The scent is incredible. If you’re looking for something like Aventus, this is the best clone; in terms of aroma and quality, it even surpasses it for me. Unfortunately, the performance is among the worst in my collection. It’s at an accessible price, but after several days of testing, I can assure you it doesn’t last more than three hours. On skin, after the first hour it fades to skin scent. It’s not olfactory fatigue; by two hours no one smells it, and by three there’s no trace. Even applying thirty sprays… it’s a shame because it is tremendously exquisite. I hope Pastor improves the performance; even if the price rises, it would be totally worth it.
Last year I was looking for something pretty and cheap like Creed’s Aventus. I tried this ‘new Ambre gris’, the original, Vibrant Leather and the Oud from Zara. They all seemed identical to me: magnificent scents but with abysmal performance. By August I was bored of all four, so I used two of my own free sprays, bought 50ml atomisers and mixed everything together. In December 2023 I tested it and my head exploded: an exquisite aroma that surpassed the initial performance deficiencies, with a three-hour projection and over ten hours of longevity. It was a game; given the low price and poor initial performance, I thought if it failed I’d throw it away, but I was surprised and delighted.
I picked this up recently; I already own the CDNI and the RPLK house clone. The initial fruity and citrus burst is noticeable, and the quality smells great straight from the bottle. Then the pineapple (perhaps with apple) takes centre stage, but without that strong smoky note. It lasts between six and seven hours with a projection of nearly two metres. A very good option for spring and summer.
