Some reviewers say it smells like ‘Tsatsiki’, that Greek dish of yoghurt and cucumber… and they’re right, because it’s quite close. But it’s not just that, although yes, cucumber is the king of this fragrance. In my perception, it’s a mix of cucumber with salty and ozony notes, and with the base musk that gives it a creamy touch. Everything is wrapped in the aura of orange blossom and petitgrain. But as I say, very soft. The good thing is that the salty notes don’t feel heavy to me, which I usually fear in excess even though I like them. I also notice that the ozony part overshadows, and by a lot, the citrus aspect, which for me is not very highlighted. In the dry down it loses that salad tone to focus more on what its name indicates: a salty (marine) fragrance. Explained in an image, it’s like we’re eating a cucumber salad in the middle of an orange grove by the sea on a beautiful late spring or summer day. I think it’s a fun fragrance that breaks with the usual. Totally unisex, and serves just as well for the office as for ‘the summer apartment by the beach’. Not for a very formal occasion.
A very clean perfume that opens with a curious smell of reheated cucumber and evolves into a more citrusy aroma of petit grain and creamy orange blossom over time. Throughout its duration, there’s a very subtle salty background that distinguishes this perfume from other summer citrus scents I’ve tried. Another thing that sets it apart is its longevity; on my skin it lasted about 10 hours and, although its sillage isn’t very marked, that little citrusy soapy and salty scent is felt throughout. I found it an interesting and feminine fragrance for informal deep summer days. I hadn’t tried many perfumes with salty notes, but the two Carner scents I’ve tried these days might encourage me to explore this category more. Pleasant: 7/10 Interesting: 7/10 Versatile: 5/10 Original: 8/10
Note: the humble cucumber is here the master and lord, the predominant note, and wow, it’s the first thing that enters your nose straight to your brain the moment you spray it: a cucumber salad in mid-August, hyper-refreshing, even with its crunchy splash of lemon and vinegar. On skin, the performance wasn’t the best (now there’s only a delicate memory left), but on paper it’s quite beastly and keeps me interested: the salad eventually tames itself and leaves a lovely impression of freshly cut summer grass with salty little touches. I think it’s a playful, almost irreverent fragrance.
If you love gin and tonics with Bombay Gin, this perfume will remind you a bit of that drink: the cucumber base of Bombay Sapphire and the gin tonics, with that touch of yellow lemon, but here it’s accompanied by a fully bloomed orange blossom that unfolds a wonderful aroma. Although they say cucumber is the dominant note, for me the orange blossom competes directly in importance. Furthermore, it’s enhanced by petit grain, leaving a delicate and exquisite finesse. In the dry down, clean musky notes with salty touches blend with a very soft wood. In summary, I think it’s a perfume for the heat that makes you feel fresh and energetic, clean and secure. It’s totally unisex and very pleasant. Totally worth it.
Smells like freshly cut grass or cucumber peel. I didn’t like it at all. I thought it would be the delicious scent of freshly peeled cucumber, but it’s not. Terrible disappointment 🙁
