Serendipity for Her is white florals with tiare as the star. If you’re tired of the pear abuse, don’t worry. I don’t detect it, although perhaps it adds sweetness to the opening and the first 15-20 minutes. Then it smells very natural of fleshy white flowers down to the sandalwood base. I don’t notice the coconut, more of a creamy hint in all phases. I like it a lot, but there are two things to criticise: the performance, about four hours on skin with moderate sillage (I’ll try spraying it on clothes), and that it launched in autumn when I see it as a summer scent (we’ll have to test it with heat). In summary, very pleasant for daytime daily events in summer: shopping, walks, informal meals… I love how it goes with my Rituals trips but I won’t buy the large bottle. It’s another tiare. Creamy, beachy, totally summery… I don’t understand why they put it in the winter 2021 collection. I was disappointed because I have similar ones and expected it to smell like the body range, but it doesn’t… the cream is much more woody and spiced, a delight. Performance is acceptable. It smells good but nothing new under the sun and not very appropriate for this season. EDIT: The heat arrived and I changed my mind (partially). I find it more refined and bearable than most coconut/vanilla/tiare blends… I feel very comfortable. Now I regret buying only the 10 mL mini.
It’s my first unisex-feminine fragrance; I see it that way because it’s so floral and sweet, it suits a woman better. The scent is splendid; I can’t imagine another floral I like so much. I see it for spring-summer, not because it’s fresh, but because it evokes that intoxicating tropical and floral smell that makes you feel like you’re out for occasions over 20 degrees.
I went to try it because of comparisons with Tom Ford’s Soleil Blanc. If they’re similar, it’s from a distance. To me, Soleil Blanc smells cleaner, whiter and more refined, plus it’s very expensive. In Serendipity, I smell lots of sandalwood, a touch of coconut and a heap of unclean flowers. It sounds dusty, not creamy, a bit grey; it doesn’t evoke white beaches or freshness. The opening is pleasant, but once it settles, I find it a little dirty. I don’t like its evolution and the performance is poor. I’m not a tropical perfume person, but there are many I prefer. I’ve given it several chances and it just doesn’t work for me. The only good thing is the price.
It’s a delight; I adore coconut, and although the tiare reminds me of others, its creaminess and freshness are unrivalled; I understand the ice note. I don’t detect the pear, thankfully. It doesn’t last long on the skin, but reapplying it is a joy, like a breeze beneath a coconut tree with white flowers. I bought both the large and small sizes; the downside is that it’s now hard to find.
One of the best Rituals has ever made; what a shame they’ve discontinued it 🙁
