Sillage de Marrakech: A Comforting Oriental with Character

Maison Rihla presents Sillage de Marrakech, a new fragrance for both women and men, launched in 2026 and created by perfumer Chris Maurice. Its character is warm, amber-led and gently sweet.

Inspired by the trail of perfume left behind in Marrakech, it opens with pomegranate, raspberry and pink pepper, then unwinds through ylang-ylang, rose, neroli and ambergris to a creamy base of tonka bean, vanilla and benzoin.

The top notes feel immediately succulent. Raspberry and pomegranate bring a gentle fruitiness, while pink pepper adds shimmer and a touch of spice without making the opening sharp or loud.

The heart is where the floral side emerges: ylang-ylang contributes golden warmth, neroli adds a clean citrus-floral lift, rose brings romance, and ambergris provides a soft, animalic glow.

At the base, tonka bean, vanilla and benzoin create a padded, resinous finish. The sweetness is creamy rather than sugary, and the benzoin gives a faint powdery, incense-like texture.

Overall, the accords read as amber, sweet, vanillic, fruity, rosy, woody, yellow floral, gently spiced and balsamic. It’s an oriental that feels contemporary and wearable in everyday life.

Initial ratings put the fragrance at 5.0 out of 5, though only a small number of reviews have been submitted so far. The early response suggests a successful debut for this unisex release.

This will suit those who gravitate towards opulent oriental blends, fans of fruity-floral opens that dry down to a reassuringly vanillic and balsamic base. It’s a wonderful choice for evenings and cooler weather.

With Sillage de Marrakech, Maison Rihla has created an approachable yet distinctive oriental. Its sweet, balsamic trail feels personal rather than overpowering, making it a compelling new addition to any fragrance wardrobe.
