Stormy Day by Zara is a spicy aromatic fragrance for men, created by perfumer Olivier Cresp and launched in 2021. Curious and oriental, the violet stands out tremendously, turning sweet. The pepper is somewhat hidden; I perceive more its peculiar warmth than an aromatic touch. And the cocoa I sense more like it’s in a cocoa body cream; I smell its richness rather than chocolate.
Simple yet interesting fragrance. Masculine, but in an unconventional way. The pepper gives a pleasant warmth that classifies it as masculine and sets it apart from the thousands of marine men’s perfumes. It is very appropriate to describe the note as cocoa rather than chocolate: there is nothing milky or vanilla-like, and that makes it blend well with the pepper. The violet is a little difficult to perceive. For its price, very good trail and intensity. If there were an intense, potent version with a bit more complexity, perhaps I would buy it.
A rare fragrance, it smells unusual but not ugly. The opening is slightly citrusy and spiced, with cocoa—I don’t know, it’s odd, but once everything settles, it becomes a good everyday scent. Longevity is between four and five hours, with moderate to light projection. The spices and that sweet aroma, which is nothing like cloying, will embrace you in a halo of masculinity. Worth trying, and even better if on sale or clearance. P.S. Go with an open mind, as it could be a pleasant surprise.
As others have said, it’s unusual. Absolutely not unpleasant! But it’s distinct from what we smell frequently. It’s sweet, yet not cloying. You can detect the violet, a hint of pepper, and a solid cocoa base at the bottom, just as mentioned, like a creamy cocoa. On the opening, I also sense a fruity touch that fades within minutes. Based on the name, I imagined something else—something warmly sweet for cold weather, but no! It feels ideal for spring and perhaps autumn. For everyday wear, casual outings, and so on. The longevity is limited, and after 15 minutes it sits close to the skin; if over-applied, it lasts about five hours at most. If you find it on offer or as a set, go for it; otherwise, I’d honestly pass.
