The Beast is Maison Yusif’s new fragrance, launched in 2026 as a woody oriental for men and women. The perfumer behind it is Yusif Meizongo Jnr.
True to its title, the scent is powerful: a burst of zest and spices leads into a warm, resinous heart and a smooth, leathery base.
It opens with a bright, peppery burst: bergamot snaps next to cardamom, oregano and pepper, giving the perfume an energetic and slightly aromatic start.
The heart is where the resinous character comes through. Sandalwood, opoponax, vetiver, incense, amber and oud wood blend into a warm, balsamic centre that feels both refined and a little mysterious.
The drydown is equally memorable. Sandalwood, tonka bean, patchouli, vanilla, leather and oud wood create a sweet, gently smoky trail with a soft powdery edge.
