  • I wouldn’t recommend this without careful thought: this EDP is so peculiar that the risk of disliking it is enormous. After reading terrible reviews, I was convinced to buy it blind, which was easy given its affordable price. If you’re an oud lover, snatch it up online while it’s available, as it’s not always in stock and could be absolutely stunning. The opening is an incomprehensible, strong slap of hydrocarbons and motorcycle exhaust. It’s extreme and synthetic, but I believe the labdanum and unspecified balsamic notes in the base create that artifice, betraying the amber. I’d dare say there’s Manila elemi that, combined with the labdanum, creates a resinous, metallic, and herbal illusion. Once the scent settles, the motorcycle ride ends, leaving you at an Arab feast with sweet spices (cinnamon, cardamom), bitter ones (saffron), dried dates, prunes, and rose petals over aromatic wood. As it dries, the oud becomes honeyed and fruity, leaving an almost imperceptible trail of initial tobacco ash and fuel. What I don’t detect is the moss. Despite sounding monstrous, it’s more harmless than it promises. The longevity is excellent (6-7 hours), though the projection is moderate. Be wary of the opening: don’t apply it or expose it to others immediately. It seems made for people who are tough on the outside but soft on the inside. If it were a song, it would be ‘Jump’ by Van Halen: it sounds rockin’ and cool, but it’s perfect for dancing. It’s eminently unisex, leaning neither way. It would suit motorcyclists and motorcyclists perfectly, but insist: it can cause either repulsion or absolute enthusiasm, so the risk is guaranteed. Its virtue is being highly singular, something to be appreciated among so many dupes and ‘wannabe’ fragrances.
