I’ve worn this for years and it’s pure gold: top-tier ingredients blended to perfection. As usual with the brand, it’s discreet; that realistic honey blends beautifully with warm woods. Note that my old version had the oud dominating, but here it’s the other way round: the honey takes charge. It lasts 8-9 hours with moderate projection at the start. It’s not for parties or trying to be a beast, but if you’re looking for something elegant, discreet, and you like honey, it’s a winner. The downside is the price (200-250 pounds) and how hard it is to get hold of.
I just bought it and to my nose it smells of realistic honey, very floral, with a potent rose and an oud that smells good. After 8 hours, only the oud remains, which is undoubtedly authentic. I find it elegant and classy. I live in northern Mexico, in the hot desert, and it holds up without any issues, just like it does for Arabs; there’s no other way. I’d give it 4 out of 5.
I read the reviews and can’t remember them. I simply love it. It has opulence and a lovely decadent touch: it brings to mind Parisian nights at the Moulin Rouge, fabrics, stage curtains, something theatrical. It’s not for going unnoticed; it’s intense, a bit of the 19th century mixed with One Thousand and One Nights. On my skin, the oud and honey come out, but then a ‘masculinised’ vanilla lingers.
I tried Honey Oud with samples from @arp. At first, it has opulence, citrus notes, and a touch of oud, but the protagonist is the honey. Perhaps this is where I’ve heard the most realistic honey; it leads the melody and adds opulence with the vanilla, all very oriental. I find it dense, so not for heat but for winter. Despite the sweetness, it’s not a beast: medium projection and it lasted 10 hours. I’ve never seen it in stores, and seeing the online price, I’d better look for something else.
It’s linear from start to finish: from the beginning it smells of honey with a faint oud base, nothing more. The other notes are so low that I don’t notice them. The honey feels very natural, almost as if we were applying real honey; it reminds me of Arabie by Lutens. They are different fragrances but share that naturalness, as if they were flankers from another house. Lutens’ outperforms in projection and longevity. Mine had low sillage, lasted 7 hours, and the last 3 hours were skin scent only. For fresh climates and adults. I expected more elegance and presence, but it’s not bad, just doesn’t stand out. Grab some natural honey and smell it; that’s how simple it is.
A good fragrance from Floris, though I wouldn’t pay the exorbitant price. I detect the honey and a very soft oud at the base; it’s noticeable but not one of those unpleasant ones. The notes are well-blended, though I don’t perceive them individually. It doesn’t seem synthetic at all. In the dry-down, it reminds me of Lanvin Avant Garde, but without the tobacco. Good longevity, about 8 hours, and the projection isn’t huge, but it’s noticeable.
