Elegant and timeless, the ultimate man’s scent. An incredible resemblance to Creed’s Bois de Portugal.
I found it in Mauricio Wiesenthal’s book, ‘Orient Express’. Does it smell like an old man? Well, those gentlemen smell wonderful. I prefer this to the sweet, characterless One Million. Everyone choose their own style: I’m going for Habit Rouge, Heritage, or the vintage green Paco Rabanne. Fragrances for men, not children.
I know it’s not for everyone and some ‘young’ people might find it old-fashioned, but for me, it’s inner peace. A clean, spicy, and citrusy green. Not soapy, not creamy, not powdery. Just what I was looking for.
I tried it at a perfumerie yesterday; in short, it smells old and is designed for people with grey hair. I’d say it’s for someone over 50. Personally, I didn’t like it, but if you get the chance, give it a try.
Around 1730, Juan Femenías Florit moved from Menorca to London and established his legacy on Jermyn Street. Clients included Don Juan, Beau Brummell, Mary Shelley, and Ian Fleming. Floris Elite is a fierce green: sharp citrus, juniper, laurel, and freshly cut conifers. Herbaceous greenery and resinous wood. Lavender and moss calm it down, leather warms it, and vetiver rounds it off. Less soapy than Puig’s Quorum, more refined. Some say it’s Creed’s Bois de Portugal mixed with Polo Green. I parted with eighty euros and it was worth it. True barbershop excellence, for the authentic gentleman. It will delight those of us sporting grey hair and lovers of fougère. PS: It brings back memories of 1980, when Pub Rock and New Wave were playing on my radio. I think in many ways we’ve gone backwards.
