Caught me off guard and I absolutely loved it. With that name, I expected a rough, dark, primitive forest (à la Norne), but instead found something soft, clean, and fresh—soapy, as if wrapped in mist or just after a spring shower. The fougère sits somewhere between Bon Monsieur (less woody) and Mousse Illuminée (though Forest is softer and less brash than MI), perhaps a midpoint leaning closer to BM. Upon smelling it, anyone familiar with Emmanuel Cross’s vintage fougères will recognise his signature; it’s unmistakably his. As is typical with Rogue’s old-school scents, it’s very wearable, masculine, featuring fresh, woody, piney notes and, of course, oakmoss, yet perfectly balanced. Ideal as a signature scent or for the office, provided you appreciate this vintage vibe. Performance and longevity are good, though not quite reaching MI’s bombastic levels.
