  A pure classic green. Clean, energising and full of life. It’s inspired by Houbigant’s Fougère Royale. The main notes are lavender, oakmoss and geranium, with a balsamic camphor touch that gives it a unique personality. On my skin, it lasts about 5-6 hours; it projects strongly for two hours before settling close to the skin.

  It’s a herbal aroma with a strong vintage vibe yet sounds totally modern. Yes, it resembles Creed’s GIT, but in my opinion, this FLA is superior: it lasts longer, blends better, and smells rounder. The green notes, with a bitter galbanum base that softens the oakmoss, hardly change on the skin. You can detect the hay, and hidden within is the geranium and rose accord (geranium dominates). Among herbals, it’s my favourite. The perfumer, Manuel Cross, used to say on his website that he broke IFRA rules, so I imagine the moss is natural and untreated. It seems he revives vintage perfumes and gives them new life, something I greatly appreciate. I wear it on damp autumn or spring days.

  I imagine a walk through a green meadow in the rain with this scent. It smells very similar to GIT, but it’s cheaper, more intense, and has an extra mentholated/floral twist. I tried it in the discovery set as a roll-on, and to be honest, I’m not convinced by that presentation; I’d prefer it came in a spray.

  It definitely has that Green Irish Tweed touch, but Fougère L’Aube is far more floral; the geranium takes centre stage, though it’s well accompanied by oakmoss and lavender. There’s nothing marine here; instead, it leans towards a soapy, barbershop style.
