Fabulous
What a beast!
A green bottle with a golf ball cap, few things but lots of impact. Smells like 80s sport, dry, informal yet classy. It’s crisp, optimistic and spring-like, like breezes laden with green and flowers. Although they say it’s chypre due to the citrus, it’s pure fern, a formula trying to capture the scent of nature. Perhaps it’s soft fern or coupé. If fern is nearly gone, then sporty fern no longer exists, ironically, because it would fit perfectly today or in any era. Trophee de Lancome has that classic opening but then adds herbs and flowers to change it. From the start, it’s mown grass, a golf course, fresh grass, full of nuances and sparkle, with that 80s jet-set, dreams lived with intensity and a different way of feeling the world. Marvellous, thanks to Jerry Drake.
I have the bottle with the golf ball cap. It’s an elegant, light citrus-floral, super unisex, with a soft trail and good longevity; smells very natural and is ideal for spring and summer. Not bad, I bought it blind at a good price. I like vintage scents and took a risk, but it hasn’t disappointed. It’s not worth spending a fortune on, it’s a proposal that with the right price deserves a place in any collection without looking small. The green herbs stand out, in short, I find it elegant, another good example of the magic of past scents.
