Vanille d'Iris by Ormonde Jayne is an oriental floral fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2015, this composition is signed by perfumer Geza Schoen. Upon release, the fragrance unfolds carrot seeds, pink pepper, coriander and Sicilian bergamot; the heart reveals the elegance of iris root, osmanthus, jasmine and magnolia; while the base settles on a warm and enveloping foundation of vanilla, Tahitian vanilla, vetiver, cedar, amber and musk.

Trying it on right now and, being a fan of iris and vanilla, I absolutely love it. The issue is that it smells almost identical to the Givenchy Gentleman EDP I own; they share many notes. I sprayed it on the other hand and barely noticed any difference. Yes, the Ormonde Jayne one feels more natural, whereas the GG is synthetic, dense, creamy and intense. This one is softer and fresher. However, the Givenchy lasts longer, leaves a stronger trail and costs three times less. Even though I adore it, I don’t think it will make it into my collection. Perhaps this has a slightly more feminine floral touch compared to the balsamic and masculine vibe of the GG, although both are super similar and unisex.
