What a wonderful fragrance; Ormonde Jayne never disappoints! Being unisex, the dry-down shifts into more feminine territory. It opens with cardamom, a hit, green and woody, very elegant. At this stage, it doesn’t seem feminine and that’s what I like most. Over time, the spice fades, it feels floral and talc-like, with vetiver at the base. Here, it doesn’t enchant me as much and I prefer the Man version; the talc overwhelms me a little. Mature, formal, and optimal performance. Don’t use it in the heat; the concentration is heavy. Very interesting.

Although it’s unisex, the dry-down shifts into more feminine territory: it opens with the house’s signature cardamom, a spectacular, very woody green that is super elegant. At this stage, it doesn’t feel feminine at all—it’s my favourite part. Over time, the spice fades and it feels floral and talc-like, with vetiver at the base. Here, it doesn’t enchant me as much, and I prefer the Man version. I admit a man wears it perfectly, but the talc overwhelms me a little here. It’s mature, formal, and has optimal performance. Don’t wear it in the heat; the concentration is quite heavy. Very interesting.
House and Witch. I tried it by chance: while discussing Encre Noir at a gathering, the hostess let me sample it. At home, my first impression was green, in various shades and intensities, with flashes of coriander that bring calm. The fragrance smells clean, warm, and fresh, like freshly hung herbs on the beams. The development keeps that green note, but the wood of old furniture gives it a dark tone without being gloomy; it smells of floral soap and aromatic sticks—the ones the witch uses to bring peace. It’s a blend that recalls the scents of a forest inside a house in a clearing. Being so feminine, I imagine a mystical witch, not one with a wart on her nose. The longevity and projection are excellent, and the price is worth it. Outside my imagination, it’s quite good and looks great on sober occasions. I highly recommend trying it.

An unconventional and underrated fragrance, with impeccable quality and performance. Can women wear less sweet scents and still feel amazing? Absolutely yes, and men too; this is my favourite! By the way, this perfume from the ‘signature’ line could be the perfect bridge to the Ormonde ‘Elixir’, pushing that woodland sensation to the limit. Both are darkly seductive. Black cicuta, jasmine, and violet integrated into a body of woody resins with a barely powdery dry-down. Fascinating! Well done, Ormonde Jayne! It shows wisdom and good taste in its balanced creations.

It could be the bridge to the Ormonde Elixir, with that woodland sensation pushed to the limit. Both are darkly seductive. I can’t believe there are no reviews of this gem! I launched it yesterday and fell in love with the combo from the sample. It fixes well, projects incredibly, and has a unique personality. Very feminine, aromatic, and nothing simple; it’s made to be noticed. 10 out of 10!
I can’t believe there’s no review of this masterpiece on Aroma! I launched it yesterday and since trying the sample, I’ve been enchanted by the whole combo. Good fixation… excellent projection… and let’s not mention the personality. I’m simply happy to have it. Very feminine, very aromatic, nothing simple… It’s made to be noticed. 10 out of 10!
