Elegant on the nose, but once it dries down, it smells almost identical to Hermès’ Jardin Sur Le Nil.
Montabaco breaks everything you know about Schön. Iso E Super is there from the start; it’s complex and brilliant if you like trying new things. The reactions are wild: my neighbour thought it was tea, others said it smelled like they’d started smoking again due to the ripe fruit scent, and others detected lemon repellent. Every nose is a different world. To me, it smells of earth, overripe orange, black tea, herbs, a hint of animal, and a touch of floral. The tobacco is noticeable, yet very different from what one might imagine. It’s not as strange as my acquaintances claim; it has something special, and the longer it sits on the skin, the more floral it becomes. It’s high quality and evolves beautifully. For some, it’s sharp, but I prefer it after a couple of hours when I detect moss (interpreted in a very modern way) and rose. The longevity is good, around eight hours, and it doesn’t seem to fade. The trail is curious; it feels close, as if you have a magical aura; it’s noticeable from afar yet not intrusive, always delicate. Pedro’s generosity allows me to try something new, and Montabaco is like a ray of hope for the future of perfume.
To date, it’s my number one, surpassing Tom Ford’s Tuscan Leather. Montabaco is my favourite fragrance due to the quality of its notes and that naturalness in the ingredients. It’s imposing yet subtle, clean but daring, with brutal elegance and presence. I didn’t expect it: the tobacco isn’t aggressive, but enjoyable. It’s magnetic and addictive. The citrus notes with suede create a perfect combination with a mentholated touch in every nuance. Simply and straightforwardly well-executed, totally for a gentleman.
I perceive it as a citrus tobacco with great strength and a wide range of nuances. It leaves a dry-down reminiscent of older ladies’ perfumes from twenty years ago, but the opening is fresh and energetic, nothing like it. It is certainly original; it’s not easy to find something so well-crafted.
