I liked it much more than its sister, Amber. Although it leans more towards a female audience, everyone has to try it because it’s a beautiful fragrance that reminds me of Desert Flower by Jesús del Pozo, but finer and more elegant. It’s intense, with light roses at the start, then a light, non-intrusive oud, alongside raspberry and woody notes that give it an oriental air. It’s elegant, sensual and dark, ideal for autumn, winter or cool nights. It crosses the unisex line well, starting feminine and transforming into something for a modern man. It leaves a sense of magic and mysticism with good longevity and presence.

  • What a cool perfume! It’s another of those rose-oud combos, but with notable leather and dominant cedar as it dries. It comes out powerful and confident, sweet without being cloying, a woody blend of roses and cherries with white flowers that don’t steal the show. Later, patchouli appears, then a majestic cedar that takes over everything. It smells strong, green and dry, embraced by oud and leather. For me, it’s very chiringo, a bit vintage and unisex: initially more feminine, ending up more masculine. I only notice the raspberry at the start, which is a bit odd.

  • What a cool perfume! It’s another of those working rose-oud combos, but here the leather stands out and the cedar rules as it dries. It projects power, going with its head held high and no complexes. It settles sweet, but without overdoing it or smelling like food. It’s a woody blend of roses and cherries with hints of white flowers that don’t take the focus off the rose. Later, patchouli is noticeable, then yields to a majestic cedar that dominates the dry down. It stays strong, green, woody, a bit dry, a realistic green embraced by oud and leather. For me, it’s a very chula fragrance, with a vintage air, unisex; initially it leans more feminine and ends up more masculine. I only feel the raspberry at the beginning, which is strange.

To start, Wood Mystique is a unisex perfume that dances right on the line of ambiguity, with that Middle Eastern, mysterious Arabic touch that might clash with the Western palate, but once you cross that golden door, you fall in love. It smells of roses with petals of violet and iris resting on a cedar trunk and leather, bathed in raspberry, patchouli and benzoin. The longevity is insane, and on my skin it changes every time: sometimes it’s sweet and resinous, other times more woody, and other times the rose and violet dominate everything. It’s capricious, with its own life and character, perfect for cold nights, a real gem if you can find it.

To start, Wood Mystique is totally unisex, moving perfectly in that zone of ambiguity. It has that Arabic essence, a mysterious Middle Eastern charm with lots of allure; the Western world might struggle a bit to understand or wear it, but once you cross that golden door, you’ll learn to appreciate and love it. I’d describe it as fabulous roses with petals of violet and iris well intertwined, resting on a cedar trunk where leather lies, bathed in raspberry juice, patchouli leaves and benzoin. Its longevity and trail are out of this world; it lasts and lasts. Wood Mystique impresses because it’s capricious; on my skin, every time I wear it, different notes stand out, not always the same protagonists, it’s a fragrance with its own life and very willful. Sometimes for me it’s sweeter and resinous, other times more woody, and other times the rose and violet don’t let anyone else shine. Here there is elegance, something different for the West, there is strength, character and that quite asexual tone, because it goes perfectly on both men’s and women’s skin. I think it’s more appropriate for night use and cold seasons. I don’t know if it’s been discontinued, but if you can get it, it’s a gem.
