It belongs to the woody-spicy family, yet begins with a bright, almost medicinal freshness that sets it apart from many heavy orientals.
The perfume opens with incense, camphor, citrus and fir. This bracing start melts into a warm heart of fenugreek, spices and anise, before the base of resins, cedar, musk and oud wood takes over. The overall effect is deep, persistent and radiant.
The accords may be described as fresh-spicy, woody, amber and musky. The camphor and anise give a balsamic lift, while the oud and resins anchor the composition with a dark, warm gravity.
Although it is an attar, Yan Huang Zisun never feels flat. It expands slowly on the skin, moving from a citrusy sparkle to a spiced, almost savoury middle, then finishes with a velvet trail of cedar, musk and woody resins.
