Beatrice Piquet

Beatrice Piquet was a French perfumer of great talent who left an indelible mark on the fragrance industry during her lifetime. She was born on 27 September 1963 in Eaubonne, France, and died on 1 March 2010 in Nanterre after a prolonged illness. At the age of 17, Piquet joined International Flavors and Fragrances Inc. (IFF), where she rose from a laboratory assistant to become a senior perfumer. During her time at IFF, Piquet worked closely with some of the most respected perfumers in the industry, including Max Gavarry, JP Mary and Alain Astori. She spent six years completing her apprenticeship under the guidance of JP Mary and Alain Astori. Piquet was a prolific creator of fragrances, and her portfolio included Bulgari Petits et Mamans, Aroma Tonic for Lancome (with Alain Astori), Armani Emporio Night Him (with Yves Cassar), Sun for Men for Jil Sander and many others. She worked with some of the most prominent fashion and fragrance brands, including Salvatore Ferragamo, Benetton, Oscar de la Renta, Christian Dior, Guerlain and Hugo Boss, among others. Piquet was known for her ability to create fragrances that were both elegant and modern, with a unique blend of ingredients that made her creations stand out. She was a master of the art of perfumery, and her fragrances were loved by consumers around the world. In addition to her work as a perfumer, Piquet was also known for her humility and dedication to her craft. When asked about creating the fragrance of her dreams, she replied: “I hope I never find it because that would suggest that everything is over”. Piquet’s contributions to the fragrance industry were significant, and her death was mourned by many in the industry. She will always be remembered for her passion, creativity and dedication to the art of perfumery.
