Céline Ellena

Céline Ellena is a perfumer from a family of creators and renowned noses. Born and raised in Grasse, the heart of perfumery, she was exposed to the world of fragrances from an early age. Her grandfather, her father and her uncle were involved in the perfume industry, and she fondly remembers the tiny scent bottles that were always present in her childhood home, even though they were out of reach. Still, she couldn’t resist opening them to catch a breath of the floral fragrances she loved. At six years old, Céline made her first attempt to create a perfume using olives, flowers and mint. Unfortunately, the blend didn’t turn out as she expected, but this experience sparked a lifelong passion for fragrances. As she grew up, she visited the Grasse factory where the perfumes were made and was fascinated by the aromas she found there. Although some of the notes may seem unusual to some, such as patchouli, chypre, rose and the cassis flower bud, to her they were as clean and charming as soap. Céline trained at the prestigious ISIPCA in Versailles and then worked for several notable fragrance companies, including Harmann & Reimer, Symrise and Charabot. However, her most significant professional achievement to date has been taking over from her father as a perfumer for The Different Company, where she has created several highly valued fragrances. These include the popular Sublime Balkiss, Pure eVe, De Bachmakov and Sel de Vetiver. Although creating perfumes may seem like it’s in Céline’s DNA, she believes it’s more about having a passion for fragrances and a keen sense of smell. She was fortunate to be born into a family where smelling was encouraged and considered a duty. As a child, she was asked to smell everything, from food to the ground, which helped her hone her olfactory skills. Today, Céline is a highly respected figure in the fragrance industry, known for her creativity, expertise and ability to create distinctive and timeless fragrances.
