Perfumes de Gerard Goupy

Gerard Goupy was a French perfumer who made significant contributions to the world of fragrances through his exquisite creations. He began his perfumery career as an apprentice in Grasse, the centre of the French perfume industry, where he learned the art of creating fragrances using natural ingredients.

In 1967, Goupy joined Lancôme, a leading cosmetics company, and created one of his best-known fragrances, Climat. This floral and fresh scent was a major success and catapulted Goupy to fame in the perfume industry. Later, he collaborated with Henri Sorsana to create Balafre, a classic men’s fragrance that became equally popular.

Goupy’s next creation for Lancôme was Black Magic, a fragrance that combined notes of exotic spices and dark flowers. This perfume became an instant success and cemented Goupy’s reputation as a master perfumer. He continued working with other prestigious brands such as Cacharel, Avon, Jacomo and O Boticario, creating fragrances that were equally memorable and well received.

Throughout his career, Goupy was known for his attention to detail and his ability to create unique and complex fragrances that withstood the passage of time. He worked with both natural and synthetic ingredients, combining them in unexpected ways to create fragrances that were both classic and modern.
