Climat (Vintage) by Lancôme is an aldehydic floral fragrance for women. Launched in 1967, this composition was created by perfumer Gerard Goupy. The opening unfolds an intense floral bouquet featuring narcissus, lily of the valley, violet, jasmine, rose, peach, and bergamot. The heart reveals the presence of aldehydes, rosemary, and neroli, while the base settles on a warm, woody accord of galbanum, musk, vetiver, sandalwood, bamboo, amber, and tonka bean.

My mother wore this perfume when I was entering adolescence in the eighties. I don’t recall its exact scent, but I did like it and used to ask for it, haha. Now that I see it is woody and I know I love that olfactive family, I perfectly understand why I adored it.
Climat was born in the golden age of aldehydes, yet with a green, fresh and soft twist that doesn’t sacrifice character. Although Je reviens was its muse, the Worth version is more intense, highlighting a subtle clove alongside a haze of incense. It leans closer to Rochas than its inspiration, but with less pronounced aldehydes; here the hyacinth, green moss and violet (stronger than in Lancôme) converse perfectly with a shy rose. Then comes the climax: a creamy duo of vetiver and sandalwood, with elegant musk and civet. Over time, that silky texture gains richness, justifying the name Climat and confirming it is a jewel of the house.
