Miroslav Petkov, a renowned Bulgarian perfumer, began his journey in the world of fragrances in his hometown of Plovdiv. His passion for creating unique fragrances and his ambition to grow internationally ultimately led him to leave Bulgaria and pursue his dreams abroad.
Petkov’s first stop was Argentina, but after a year he moved to Spain, where his career really took off. He gained recognition for creating the perfume formulas for B9 and Soho, which are owned by the American company Bond No 9. This success made him the only Bulgarian in the exclusive circle of the world’s most successful perfumers. Petkov developed another nine successful perfume formulas for Bond No. 9’s Dubai Collection series.
Currently working for the Spanish company Iberchem, Petkov focuses on the rich markets of the Middle East. Even so, his fine perfumery has customers worldwide, including the United States, Europe, Australia and Asia.
In various interviews, Petkov has shared that his early experiences in the fragrance industry have shaped his creative preferences, particularly his fondness for the natural aromas of spices and balms. He believes that the ultimate measure of a perfume’s quality and success lies in people’s opinions and, therefore, the creation of a scent depends largely on the market it is intended for. Despite the numerous evaluations that guide the development of a fragrance, Petkov continues to value and preserve the freedom to experiment and explore new nuances.
By understanding that different cultures have unique attitudes towards fragrances, Petkov maintains the philosophy that “a good perfume is good everywhere”.
Throughout his career, Miroslav Petkov has worked with brands such as Adleen Haute Parfumerie, Arabesque Perfumes, Arabian Oud, Attar Collection, Bond No 9, Floraïku, Ghalati, Headspace, La Maison Orientale, Odecla and Xerjoff. Some of his most popular creations include Xerjoff Dolce Amalfi, Attar Collection Azora, Arabesque Perfumes Kohel, Xerjoff Cruz del Sur I and Bond No 9 NoMad.
