A marvel that awakens all the senses from within. I’ve only smelled something similar before, Molinard’s Habanita. I can’t quite explain it; it smells like my second skin. The price is outrageous; it’s only available in a pack with another fragrance and cannot be bought on its own.

How is the Amber Star? It features vanilla and benzoin in the base, so it smells of camphor and perhaps something medicinal. These notes dominate everything, with a touch of wood and ylang-ylang. The myrrh blends with the base, but the vanilla and benzoin stand out. It’s unisex, leaning more masculine, though a woman could wear it. It’s linear and doesn’t last long, but the price is absurd, far from reasonable. Being exclusive because it’s sold in a box with the Star Musk for around $800 is pointless if it smells of nothing and lacks originality; it reminds me of the Gold 24. It would have been better in the ‘Join the Club’ collection for $230, and even then, it wouldn’t be among the best. I’d far prefer other things from this house, such as the Ivory Route or the Starlight, which, while not fantastic, are rich fragrances. Selling perfumes in combos is a major issue; imagine buying the Original Santal from Creed but having to take another Creed with it. That drives up the cost and lowers sales. If you say the Star Musk must be good to justify the expense, I suggest thinking twice, but I’ll discuss it later. The Amber Star is rare to find due to its exclusivity, a pity that the scent didn’t rise to the same level as the exclusivity, but rather in economy class.
