I’m not sure if most Adopt perfumes share this issue, with that foreign, half-synthetic, weird note that’s irritating, or if the bottles I buy are just expired (like the Wild Affair, which was awful; at the time I felt like I didn’t need my nose or even have COVID, and it had nothing to do with what the name suggested), but this is one where, upon spraying, I sense something odd that shouldn’t be there. The good news is that a few minutes after drying, that bothersome note fades, and that’s when I truly enjoy it. The opening is unpleasant, as I said, with lots of alcohol and a cherry reminiscent of Lolita Lempicka, but accompanied by plastic; I don’t really detect the citrus notes. Minutes later, the vanilla begins to emerge, and the rose and violet talc appear gradually as the geranium becomes more dominant, though it eventually fades. The dry down leaves a soft, powdery trail with pleasant vanilla. I feel it’s more suited to cool nights or winter and autumn days. I’m not sure if it’s similar to Guerlain as I don’t own one (yet), but it does remind me, during the drying phase, of Guess Seductive Noir (highly recommended), which is also said to be a dupe of Mon Guerlain. Longevity is like a good EDT; generally, I don’t feel that Adopt scents last as long as an EDP, and compared to Guerlain, much less so, as we know those last a very long time. It’s well known that Adopt creates inspirations, dupes, or whatever you want to call them, of other perfumes. In my country (Chile), the cost is approximately $5.50 for 10ml, $14.50 for 30ml, and $31.50 for 100ml. Therefore, it’s a good alternative to higher-cost perfumes, but I feel that for 30 dollars, you can sometimes find scents that last much longer. I bought them out of curiosity and because the brand is available in my country, and that’s the conclusion I reached.
I love it. The first spray smells like La Petit Robe Noire, but with much riper cherries and less alcohol. Although nuts aren’t listed in the notes, it smells of almonds to me. It’s exactly ripe cherries with toasted almonds and a touch of pink rose. It gives it an elegant and sophisticated air, perfect for snuggling up on cold days. On the skin, it lasts around 12+ hours, projecting strongly at first and then moderately. P.S.: You can tell it uses high-quality ingredients.
