To be honest, looking back: in 2018 it was a compliment and longevity beast, but today it leaves much to be desired compared to old batches, and I feel Dior has lowered the duration quite a bit for the price they charge. Still, I love the EDP aroma; it’s very addictive. If you have money to spend, buy it, but it won’t last as long; it’s more for personal enjoyment. I have a 2023 batch. Dior has killed a great perfume and I’ll never forgive them for it.
My favourite of the four. It’s versatile but has a mysterious and sexy little touch that looks spectacular on hot nights. It’s a comfortable scent if you’re over 25. I discarded the EDT because I dislike the patchouli in the dry-down… Also the Elixir because for this type of scent and uses, I have much better niche options…
I’m leaving my review because it might help someone, though I won’t put my hands on fire for the perfume or every batch. In my experience with batch 3F02 from June 2023, it lasts correctly and makes itself felt. It’s not a beast, but with 4 sprays in the morning, you still feel it when returning from work: 8-9 hours in winter and 6-7 hours in heat. It projects well for a minimum of 2-3 hours, as people have commented to me. There’s not much to say about the scent, but I wanted to leave the performance details here.
I’ve always wanted a Sauvage, but I got used to the idea that everyone smells like this, which makes sense given how much it sells. I just say it’s worth it: from the moment you smell it, you understand what it’s about, it’s as masculine as it gets, and you attract compliments if and only if. I suppose the hate comes from those who spend their time on TikTok and think it’s for NPCs, but none of that applies. PERFUMAZO.
In a moment of impulse, I bought this fragrance and the EDT (both from 2024). They are similar in dry-down, but in the opening, the EDT is much more vibrant, while the EDP is denser. On skin, they last the same, though the EDP feels more intense; in the air, the EDT is more noticeable, but the EDP holds better over time. Between the two, I stick with the EDP.
It was my first fragrance in a while. Opens with fresh lavender and a hint of pepper, then anise appears, and as it dries, a vanillated base joins in. It’s an ambroxan bomb that gives the notes a more metallic focus, especially the vanilla, which becomes synthetic rather than sweet. That’s why it’s ideal for summer or hot days, though not bad for winter given its notable projection (about 1.5 metres). Perfumes have no age, but this one is fresher, modern, and party-ready compared to others like Acqua di Gio. The ambroxan is very masculine; I don’t see any woman wearing it. It generates compliments from both genders. The price has risen quite a bit for a designer brand.
I bought this version because my EDT broke, and it was a good decision. Excellent for lovers of lavender and ambroxan. Very versatile and easy to like. Although many call it ‘NPC’, every fragrance reacts differently according to skin pH. If you want it in your collection, don’t hesitate to grab a bottle.
I met the Eau de Toilette version and disliked it a bit: the scent gave me a mild headache and became unbearable over the days until I finally switched perfumes. One day in a shop I tried the Eau de Parfum, and my surprise was total: how can the same DNA and almost the same aroma become so wonderful just by adding a few sweet notes? Sauvage EDP is the EDT version with that missing point to balance it and stop being cloying. A masterpiece that I wish projected as much as its predecessor so more people could feel such delight. They say it’s a very burned DNA, but in my country, Chile, it’s one of the least noticeable. I don’t know in which countries it’s so massified. My definitive signature fragrance.
For me, the best in the line. Forget the Elixir; aside from the name, it has nothing to do with the original. If you own the EDT and EDP, you might think the EDP is unnecessary due to their similarity, but the EDT is too sharp and strident, with those three peppers making it youthful yet not elegant. The EDP corrects that spice excess by adding nutmeg and vanilla (nothing gourmand) to round off a 10/10 scent. Even Prada Luna Rossa Carbon didn’t satisfy me as much as this soapy version. They’ve refined it to create something versatile, elegant, and perfect. Those who say it smells like ‘old man’ haven’t tried Roja Scandal or Creed Bois de Portugal. It suits any age or climate. The only close clone is Maison Alhambra Salvo Intense, but Dior is slightly better and worth ten times the price. Simply a perfect perfume.
I’ve been a perfume fan for over 20 years and tried everything, but I never considered Sauvage. After years searching for ‘the perfume’ in free shops across Uruguay, I sampled it all: YSL, Bvlgari, Dior Homme… I spent hours comparing EDT and EDP on my arms. Verdict: similar performance, but the EDP wins thanks to that enchanting vanilla sweetness. My wife confirmed it: she loved it and it lingered on her skin. I know they say it’s trendy, but Bleu, Dior Homme, and MIB were too. The reality is a 100ml costs over $150 (up to $250 in Uruguay), so it’s not that common. I bought the 200ml for $215 and fell in love. It’s citrusy, spiced, with sweet and floral touches of lavender and vanilla. Perfect for any occasion and generates plenty of compliments. My search ended here: Sauvage EDP is definitive.
Short and sweet: it takes the base of the EDT and transforms it into something more serious and polished. It’s no longer something for daily wear; a bomb of Ambroxan and spices accompanies it, turning it into something with more seriousness, projection, and increased longevity. If you’re looking to project sobriety and finesse, this is yours.
I recently tried the new Eau Forte and I liked it; it made me reconsider my attention on this line. I made a mistake not trying it sooner; I think it’s the best in composition, the most balanced and pleasant. For all-terrain use, it’s unbeatable. Unfortunately reformulated: I honestly thought it was my nose, but seeing reviews in Mexican stores, it’s clear it was reformulated after 2022. Great scent, but Dior holds onto that to sell it with cologne-level performance. It has acceptable longevity but terrible projection; hardly does the scent detach from skin or clothes after an hour. It reminded me most of the legendary and ultra-diluted Bleu EDP; you can see the attempt to do the same in their own version. Credit to whoever did it; the one who started this concept was Chanel, and Dior took its path. Thanks for helping me save money (haha), with this performance, I don’t feel like spending 170 dollars x100ml.
Lasts forever, women love it, smells mature and not like a kid. What more can I say? It’s a 4×4, a sales success. The only downside is that many people wear it, but it’s highly recommended. I keep it next to the Elixir and they seem to be the best.
THE BAD BOY OF PERFUMERY: A SHADE OF ITSELF. What do I mean by ‘bad boy’? The school type? Women adore it, but men repudiate it for being popular and overused. It’s not that overused, but it is. The first time I smelled it, I fell in love; I’d never heard anything like it before. Perhaps in the First World everything smells the same, but here in Mexico or Latin America, where perfume culture is almost non-existent, it’s hard to have smelled it before. *This review is about the overall aroma of Sauvage*. TOP NOTES: Bergamot and pepper, a juicy, spicy bergamot with a ‘blue’ base. After 15 minutes, the magic begins: it transforms into a more serious Ambroxan than the EDT. Both smell incredible and very similar; in short: this Sauvage is a serious, mature Ambroxan, whereas the EDT is playful, like Eros, more youthful. QUALITY: Incredible, as we’re used to from Dior. ORIGINALITY: When it launched, it was a boom; nothing smelled like Sauvage and everyone gave compliments. Probably nothing will smell like Sauvage now, which is why it’s one of the best-selling perfumes in history. Did it revolutionise perfumery? I think so. USAGE: For all weather and occasions. It’s a blue perfume, versatility at its finest, alongside Versace Eros, Dior Sauvage, and YSL. They are the three young blue perfumes for any occasion. My sister says it’s too much, that it’s a ‘f*ckboy’ perfume; frankly, if I can imagine it on someone of that nature. I dare say that when they created it, they thought of such a chap. It’s a scent that women love; you have no idea how many. PERFORMANCE AND REFORMULATIONS: Sauvage is not what it was. You can search high and low, and yes, unfortunately, it has been reformulated many times. I don’t know why big companies do this to their flagship scents, dropping performance so much and making Nautica Voyage look like a ‘beast mode’. I know it’s due to using more chemical and pet-friendly products, caring for the environment and avoiding potent ingredients for health reasons. Did you know they used to accuse perfumes of causing hormonal problems? Or is it all an excuse to cut costs? I read reviews saying it lasted ten hours projecting three to four hours on two arms, but that was a long time ago, longer than we’d like to remember. *TESTED ON VASELINE* *6 SPRAYS / 3 ON EACH SIDE OF THE NECK* (If a perfume doesn’t suit your pH, use it on vaseline to get the original performance without sebum interference, so there are no excuses). This EDP has a six-hour performance. After an hour and a half, it projects fully to an arm’s distance; by the second hour, it’s just a personal bubble and the rest is only on the skin. No matter how many sprays you use, if you overdo it, it will only last that hour and a half of total projection. *I bought this EDP version hoping the reforms would make it last longer than the EDT* *My batch is from 2023*. PRICE: 3500-3700 Mexican pesos (around 180 dollars). Is it worth it? I’m not sure really. I’m a fan, but you have to reapply constantly. If it hurts the elbow to pay so much for such poor performance, why not buy an Arabic perfume for 500 pesos (25 dollars), like the Lattafa Bade’e al Oud line, which humiliates Dior hands down? XD Only if you love the scent and it doesn’t bother you, buy it, just for that. For the price, there are better options; it feels like a spit in the face. But if you find old batches, DON’T HESITATE, don’t go into debt. REFLECTION: A flagship that will go down in history, it hit as hard as Mugler’s A*men with gourmand scents. Now it’s just a shadow of what it was and it’s sad, very sad. Now I see it and feel sorry for us, how they laugh at themselves by releasing worse things, like Sauvage Eau Forte. I love you Sauvage, but no more.
It’s a much more intense and incisive version than the EDT. I like it; it’s pure masculinity. Despite being a very massified DNA, it remains a collector of female compliments.
Honestly, I don’t like the Sauvage line in general. I love the opening, but as it dries down, it loses some ground, although it remains excellent and quite versatile. I wouldn’t buy it because it’s not my taste, but it’s a very good option. At least to me, the longevity felt a bit weak.
I was obsessed with this fragrance back in the day, but it tends to be heavy and I can’t wear it every day. Personally, I love it.
The true all-rounder! Alongside the EDT, these are the best in the line. The key difference is that the Ambroxan isn’t quite as explosive; it has a warmer, sweeter, and softer twist. Plus, that vanilla note wraps everything, making it friendlier and more seductive. It lasts over ten hours: one hour of heavy projection, then half an hour moderate, before settling into a personal scent that you can still detect. If I had to choose one from the whole line, this is the winner.
The bloke who wrote below doesn’t know that a newly bought perfume needs to breathe for a month after opening to unlock its true character. Once it’s ready, it lasts a brutal eight hours. It’s not the product’s fault; he just bought it too fresh.
Excellent, it projects very well for the first 3 hours, then goes to a personal bubble for another 6 hours, but it always makes itself felt; then it drops to skin level for another 5 hours. I do not know how long it lasts in total because I went to take a bath, but it passes 14 hours; it may seem exaggerated, but finally it is a personal experience. The aroma seems spectacular to me, a fresh opening, the ambroxan wrapped in a touch of vanilla and lavender, very aromatic, much liked. I think it is ideal for autumn and winter and special occasions. I have seen comments that it is massified, that does not apply for Peru, where the fragrance costs half a minimum wage; yes, it is a different fragrance, I loved it.
To me, this is the worst of the Sauvage line, sitting right halfway between the EDT and the Parfum. It smells exactly like the EDT, but the performance is a disaster: it projects less and doesn’t last longer. If you’re looking for something special or for night, go for the Parfum or the Elixir; for daily wear and versatility, the EDT remains the queen.
A fragrance I would define in 3 words… citrus, floral and vanilla… I tried all the Sauvages and I dare to say this is my favourite. Although surely it is not for under 20s (although nothing prevents you), it has a certain maturity. Rich aroma, I have the 200ml bottle. It is versatile but I keep it for an occasional outing; for girls it is very pleasing. Longevity of 7 to 8 hours and moderate projection. A 9.5 out of 10 in everything.
While my star perfume I opine is Bleu de Chanel EDP, this one is extremely more versatile, long-lasting and praised by the opposite sex. On one occasion I met a friend at the nightclub; I just approached her to greet her with a hug and the next day she wrote literally that my perfume was exquisite and that she still had the fragrance with her. Recommended 100% for dates. Note that it does not have the longevity of the Elixir version, but it is worth it 100%; since I have been in the perfume world, this is the fragrance I have used the most.
Personally, I love the DNA of Sauvage; that undeniably masculine character is spectacular. The EDP, for me, is the best of all and the opposite gender usually finds it fascinating. As for longevity, I do not think it is beastly at least on my skin, but the projection launches constant bursts that certainly make a presence. And if you worry that it is a very known scent, I once in my life remember smelling it at the gym, and my father, who knows this fragrance perfectly, could not tell me which one it was when I applied it on my arm. The point is that if you like it and want to buy it, you should not doubt it; it is the best of the best in terms of compliments and mass appeal.
If you are reading this expecting pros and cons about whether reformulations killed it, here is my experience: When it arrived, its performance left much to be desired, the price was high and it disappointed me, so it stayed accumulating dust. A year later I remembered it and started using it for work. I have many perfumes between designer and niche, but I have never received so many compliments as with this one, A MADNESS; men and women adore it. Longevity? I applied it at 7 am and the trail reached at times until 7-9 pm (perceived by others, only for this I found out). Scent? Brutal lavender, pepper and a vanilla that stands out in the first two hours. Ambroxan? If someone says this smells like Ambroxan it is simply because they do not know it; this is a metallic lavender and pepper bomb. Simple, versatile and a winner, no one resists. Burnt smell? Less and less; not everyone can buy it, the smell of all JPG Le Males is even more offensive to the olfactory senses and little original. There are no dupes that can take its throne, however, if you like this scent and want to try something different, Gisada Ambassador EDP and Intense are quite promising with a twist towards fruity.
Greetings. It is my signature fragrance. The opening is masculine and citrusy with a delicious bergamot (Calabria?) and a sharp anise that takes 1 or 2 minutes, and immediately the ambered note appears, mixing with the bergamot for half an hour. Then the ambroxan does its magic by sweetening with a wonderful vanilla absolute (not gourmand). It smells clean, like a crystal pool reflecting a purple sunset, with magical power, and the quality is excellent. The notes are perceived as natural, fresh and impeccable. The trail and longevity are good, reaching easily 8 hours and on clothes exceeding 24. I have 3 backups of 200ml. Buy blind. It produces olfactory fatigue if you use more than 10 sprays.
This fragrance is very unique compared to the typical marine ones. I have to say that the performance on my skin is dreadful; either it overwhelms my olfactory senses so I cannot smell it, or I do not know. I apply it with all the techniques to make it last longer, and after 1 or 2 hours, it goes completely unnoticed. I have to bring my arm close to my nose to smell it. I do not know, a colleague gave it to me as a gift; his brother collects perfumes and got rid of it completely because it was not his type; he gave it to me almost full, so I basically triumphed. It is a scent I like, I have to be honest, and it does not seem fake from AliExpress since I have smelled it in perfumeries and it is exactly the same. I do not know if I am the only one who experiences this…
For me, this perfume has cannabis notes.
Sauvage EDP is like its younger brother, the EDT, but more sophisticated and refined, giving it a mature and formal air, until you feel part of high society. Unlike the EDT, it is not so sharp or detergent-like, so it does not disorient the nose with that peppered touch. Here we have a well-blended bergamot with lavender and creamy vanilla, which together with the spices give a very addictive spicy touch. If the EDT touched rancheras in the desert, this one touches the piano at an art concert. I would use it for formal occasions, even with a suit. The projection lasts about 2 hours, then drops to a personal bubble of 5 to 6 hours that ends with a second skin of lavender-vanilla. Rating: 4.5/5.
The current batches are flawless. I have a gem from 2018 with 40ml, and the performance is no longer the same, neither in scent nor longevity, even though I always kept it in its box. I bought a 2024 one and instantly recovered that perfect aroma. It feels lighter than the first generation, without that ‘beast mode’ of before, but it remains a marvel with 6-7 hours of longevity and that distinctive elegance of the EDT. It delivers 100%.
Well, enough use to form an opinion. There’s nothing new to say about this fragrance, but here it is: Dior, what quality of composition and scents they have. That’s why these are the best-selling lines. For me, it combines two concepts: spiced/citrus and aromatic/amber. It opens with freshly grated bergamot; the realism is surprising, it’s an astringent, strong citrus noticeable for up to 20 minutes. Then comes the heart, the most complex part: several notes, but to my nose only two, lavender and pepper. A refined lavender, not overly aromatic, giving cleanliness, with the characteristic spicy pepper. The nut and anise notes just round off the pepper, they don’t overpower it. And comes the special part: lavender with hints of spiced vanilla and that potent Ambroxan, that particle that changes on every skin. Your sweat and pH make it unique. I love it. Performance: I have 200ml, if I’m not exaggerating, it lasts a minimum of 8 hours, maximum 10-12. On clothes, it won’t fade unless you wash it. Sillage is moderate to high, it projects, and if you sweat, it’s a bomb. It can be mistaken for your own scent, but believe me, that’s where it is. Price: it’s Dior, it costs, but it’s worth it. The downside is that it’s mass-produced, but it doesn’t stop being liked; that’s the most amazing thing. Extremely masculine scent, a ‘mass pleaser’. Occasion: any, it’s the most versatile I know, formal or informal, goes with everything. Any weather. Scent: 10/10, Versatility: 10/10, Price: 4/10, Projection/Sillage: 8/10.
It’s a great perfume, there’s nothing more to say.
Very rich, but I have a 2022 batch and feel it doesn’t project or last as long, which is why I hardly use it compared to others. As for the scent, it’s my favourite.
It rates ten out of ten. At first, it might be complex for someone who doesn’t know much about perfumes, like me. The top is citrusy, then the vanilla arrives; it’s not cloying and suits any time of day. My only issue is that although it lasts quite a while (on clothes, it smells the next day), the projection drops significantly after two hours. Honestly, although they say it’s common, for me, it’s attractive to women in 80% of cases. It’s my go-to fragrance for intimate settings.
I only notice the top and heart notes; the base is hard to detect. I perceive it as the regular version without vanilla and ambroxan, with more bergamot and a hint of Sichuan pepper. The longevity is the same but more pronounced and sharp. If the previous one was masculine, this is the super-testosterone version. It makes a lot of noise; I’m not saying it’s bad… but to suit those who like it, in my case, it’s neutral. I wouldn’t pay more than $50.
It’s the aroma known for excellence, that one everyone associates with the gym. Don’t misunderstand: it smells good, but you’re sure to have heard it somewhere before. Its performance is overwhelming: a single drop fills the room and is detectable from fifteen metres away. The problem is that it’s the generic smell of the average man, from the office to a party. My advice: test it first. Buying blindly in Colombia (over $150) is imprudent when catalogue brands replicate it cheaply. It has a slightly artificial chemical note that some like, similar to Nautica Voyage. Many love it, but it’s an excessive cost for a scent you can find easily. What does it smell like? It has a citrus aura, but nowhere near natural bergamot oil (I have one to compare). It’s not vanilla-based, nor does it resemble artificial vanilla essences; if it’s ‘sweet’, it’s synthetic, rare, similar to the sweetness of Invictus. I don’t have ambroxan to say if it smells like that, but…
Excellent perfume, imposing, for a man who knows what he wants. August 2025 batch: good performance despite being ‘reformulated’. Lasts 8-10 hours on skin, with moderate projection for 3 hours. 100% recommended.
Excellent for everyday wear, multifaceted. Buy it without fear; it smells superb. Just be aware that the claim of it being mass-produced is a lie.
The Sauvage line always attracts compliments. It’s super versatile; I wear it in winter and summer, day and night, for formal or casual occasions. Being an EDP, it lasts and projects quite well.
It’s my go-to fragrance. I’ve seen reports of it burning the skin or being overly common, but honestly, on the street, it’s almost unnoticeable on others. Ultimately, the scent is incredible: smell, longevity, and projection leave nothing to complain about.
