Gengibrol
Just like with Encounter, this scent existed before 2020 but under a different name. It was sold in a grey bottle with a hand-painted red label, rather shabby. I didn’t get the fragrance wrong. The aroma was undesirably synthetic. The product sheet lists lavender for the top, moss for the heart, and woods for the base. However, I distinctly remember a heavy whiff of cherry jelly or tutti frutti that was far too sweet, bitter, and cloying, quite dirty, perhaps due to the moss treatment (if it actually had any), and it lasted around five hours. It smelled of shampoo and left a damp trail that was anything but pleasant. I always doubted it was for men, as it smelled like a teenage girl’s body spray, with the caveat of leaving a dark, contrasting scent right on the skin against its candied sweetness. Far from being an aromatic fougere as described here, it behaved olfactively like a fruity musk. Quite bizarre! Frankly, it makes no difference to humanity or the perfumery community that it has been discontinued.
