Realistic and exquisite! With summer approaching and looking for fragrances for the heat, I came across citrus scents that, while I usually find them boring, some are done very well. Bergamotto Di Calabria La Spugnatura is purely citrus. In the top phase it is intense, sharp, and realistic: it smells like the acidic oil that comes out when you cut and squeeze the peel. That citrus charge gradually loses its acidity but remains fresh and intense. After 30 minutes, the citrus shifts from green and acidic to the white, bitter part between the pulp and peel, which reminds me of grapefruit, before maturing into orange and being softened by a subtle floral note, I suppose geranium. It has a longevity superior to many in its category, and the intensity lasts quite a while before fading to skin scent. I recommend it to citrus lovers, especially bergamot enthusiasts. A very good fragrance.
I had it on my wishlist and it hasn’t disappointed. As an EDT, don’t expect huge projection or longevity (3-4 hours), but it doesn’t stick to the skin either; it’s noticeable at arm’s length. The star is the bergamot, more delicate and exclusive knowing they use the ‘spugnatura’ process to get the most juice. It doesn’t sting; it’s sweet and balanced, with a clean, floral touch like geranium. The tangerine reminds me of Tom Ford’s but without so much sweetness or orange blossom; here it’s totally natural and subtle. After 3-4 hours it settles into a sweet, clean, fine citrus. The handcrafted ceramic bottle is a jewel. Recommended Italian sophistication despite the price, because when you hold it and spray it, you feel like you’re in the ‘dolce vita’ or Procida from ‘The Talented Mr Ripley’.

Uhm, after wearing it for a few days I noticed a very faint ambroxan note, which I hate in perfumes like Sauvage because it irrationally reminds me of old breath. Here it’s so brief I think it’s just there to add a bit more trail and longevity, and thank goodness for that.
At first it smells the same as the regular version, but then, as I’ve read, it lasts three or four hours longer thanks to modern ingredients like ambroxan. The sponge story sounds lovely, but for someone with a woody nose like mine, it’s not very noticeable. Now that some YouTubers are criticised for poor performance, I’d say this and others require you to hug your arm after a while if anyone asks if you like it. Anyway, for me what matters is smelling good on yourself without giving others a bad vibe, hehe.
Brutally fresh and natural citrus from Acqua di Parma. Calabrian bergamot extracted using the traditional sponge method, top quality, wrapped in other Italian citrus notes and green touches. It feels distinct from the classic version and, in my opinion, superior in scent and longevity. Acidic, fresh and energetic, ideal for heat. Lasts about four hours (five if you apply more), with good initial projection before settling into your personal bubble. Exquisite for those who love pure citrus.
Spectacular citrus, ultra-refreshing and natural from Acqua di Parma. Calabrian bergamot extracted by the traditional sponge method, of high quality, surrounded by other Italian citrus and green touches. It is distinct from the classic version and, in my opinion, superior in both aroma and performance. Acidic, fresh, and energising, perfect for hot days. It lasts around four hours (five if over-applied) with good projection and trail at the start, then settles into a personal bubble. An exquisite scent for those who love pure citrus.
