Fresh and citrusy, though it offers little more than the basics. As Juancar says, nothing like the original. Not bad, though: striking, decent almondy citrus, well above Guerlain’s last cologne, yet not reaching excellence. It performs with dignity and beats other market options. As it dries, it blends with a synthetic petitgrain green note, perhaps with a very soft pink pepper touch. I haven’t detected vetiver, even pressing my nose to the skin. Sillage and longevity are moderate, slightly above average for this style, so it doesn’t look bad. In El Arenal, they cost around €82 for 100ml—a very high price for the quality; at half price, it would be a viable purchase if you like fresh, almondy citrus. It smells good, is pleasant and refreshing.
Fresh with a very dominant citrus opening that evolves well in the mid-notes, finishing with vetiver as the main note, although lemons are still noticeable from a distance. Nothing to do with the original Eau Savage. Ideal for summer and spring, and for all daytime use. It has slightly better longevity and projection than the original, but isn’t a monster.
It was a pleasant surprise. I perceive it as quite linear and with little nuance, but it stands out that a fresh scent can last a long time; although it’s not very intense, it stays for many hours. The scent is citrusy without highlighting any specific note, with that touch of Hedione (thank goodness they didn’t try to sell it to us this time as a blend of jasmine from India, Egypt and Grasse).
As a teenager, with my working-class self, I looked at it with unreachable respect. Today I see it differently: a high-quality minimalist almondy citrus fragrance that only lasts an hour and a bit. Nothing more. PS: I ADMIT THIS IS A TERRIBLELY POOR REFORMULATION.
As a teenager, so many years ago, I looked at it with respect for its unattainability because I was from a working-class family… Today I see it differently: a minimalist, lemony, quality citrus fragrance that only lasts an hour and a bit. Nothing more. PS: I ADMIT THIS IS A TERRIBLELY POOR REFORMULATION.
A reinterpretation of an timeless classic. Truly a masterpiece that will withstand time. Beautiful and simple, a perfect aroma for every occasion. Starts with sparkling and fresh citrus, quite cheerful and aromatic. It inspires me a lot of energy. It brings pleasure, it’s good for catching people’s attention. It could be a timeless, fresh and green quality cologne. This EDC is a GREAT example of what active men should wear EVERY DAY. Very suitable for more occasions in the SUMMER. Overall, perfect choice.
I love the Eau Sauvage Cologne, I’d like to wear it every day but it’s expensive, so I choose occasions. It suits me perfectly and I’ve received good compliments. It’s very summery and long-lasting; I can smell it on my skin for more than 8 hours and on clothes even longer. It’s linear, with the same citrus opening that lasts and improves with time, incorporating the pepper that gives it a boost after two hours. It seems to carry Hedione and it delighted the women; many approach asking about that lemony scent, which they love. For me it’s a 10/10. The only thing I don’t like is the high price. Dior makes perfumes of great quality.
I was never particularly attracted to it as a flanker, but today, at the Dior stand to buy a gift for my brother-in-law, I tried it on my wrist and was surprised—not by the scent (it’s neither groundbreaking nor legendary) but by its fixation (superb). It’s a rich citrus perfume, with refreshing bergamota that moves to a linear fragrance, as Uhm says, smelling of soft, gentle petitgrain with a spiced jasmine touch. It’s young, with class. Ideal for work and leaving a friendly trail. What I like most is its fixation. Demachy has a gift with ‘fresh’ fragrances (the hardest to create without falling into vulgarity). It has light and class; its trail produces cordiality.
Never caught my attention as a flanker, but today, at the Dior stand to buy a gift for my sister-in-law (a Rouge lipstick, very stylish), I sprayed some on my wrist. And… I’m surprised, not by the scent (it’s not groundbreaking nor on the podium of legends) but by its longevity (magnificent). It’s a rich citrus, with refreshing bergamot that moves to something linear, agreeing with Uhm, smelling of soft petit grain, friendly and a touch of spiced jasmine. It’s youthful with a touch of class. Ideal for work and leaving a friendly trail. Above all, I like its longevity. Demachy has a gift with ‘fresh’ fragrances (the most difficult without falling into vulgarity). It’s a good fragrance, it has light and class. Its trail produces cordiality.
I’m revising my review a bit; I think I was unfair at the time. I’m a lover of classic citrus and on an impulse I bought it again. It’s true it doesn’t bring much innovation and is a seen scent, but the citrus is quite well achieved, sharp, with bergamot, orange, etc., with a certain realism and very refreshing. I still don’t smell vetiver and there’s a slight green, light note. I agree it reminds me very much of Atelier’s Cedrat Enivrant (one of the best citrus scents I’ve ever smelled). It smells very similar, same style, but the Atelier one is denser, more potent, ‘thicker’, with better defined and more natural citrus, while the Dior one is more expensive and synthetic, lacking that ‘chalky’ touch from Atelier’s pith. The price remains high, but there are more expensive things done worse, and we have the 200ml bottle which greatly reduces the price per ml. The longevity, oh my, is spectacular for this type of fragrance. I’ve been wearing it for two days and it lasts over 10 hours with sharpness and notable sillage, even with 3-4 sprays. Excellent work, I admit. It’s one of the best designer citrus scents with exceptional longevity. Cheerful, refreshing and highly recommended, only for citrus lovers.
A curiosity to try this Eau Sauvage cologne and it hasn’t disappointed, although it gave me a ‘I’ve heard this before’ moment. Ideal fragrance for spring-summer mornings, fresh with a masterful use of very natural citrus. Exceptional performance. I find it unisex. But after two hours, I started smelling like an ex-girlfriend from 20 years ago and it’s already worn me out. I can’t stop thinking it smells very much like Eau de Courrèges (the original from 1977). Damn, it smells like an ex!
A citrus wonder, truly. Very similar to Atelier’s Cedrat Enivrant, but with performance and longevity that place it among the best colognes. I don’t detect much vetiver, but I do sense pink pepper. Very refreshing and high quality. Projects well for the first 2-3 hours, which is a lot for a cologne. A bit linear, so if you like zesty citrus, this is for you; if you seek variety in a fragrance’s life, look elsewhere. Ideal for very hot days. A great achievement by Demachy.
Fresh, citrusy, long-lasting and projects well. Super natural and slightly confusing at first; you can’t tell if it smells like lemon peel, grapefruit, citrus flowers, lime or what on earth that combo is. Result: an interesting aroma, a different citrus and very natural. The vetiver plays in the background giving it a certain maturity, though it doesn’t dominate here, so it suits all ages. Works great in the heat or a summer night due to its projection. Don’t buy it blindly unless you’re a fanatic of citrus or a collector, as being a different citrus could be off-putting.
Lemon and flowers, very elegant for a gentleman. Classic style. The next day it smells perfect without needing to sniff it constantly, which is no small feat for a fresh citrus scent.
A magnificent citrus fragrance, classy, elegant, and classic. An exquisite scent that some might consider old-fashioned, yet it is more modern than the Eau Sauvage EDT or Acqua di Parma Colonia. Excellent fragrance.
I love that sharp yet well-crafted citrus. Its longevity is excellent, lasting a solid 5 or 6 hours. For heat that isn’t extreme, it’s a perfect ally. The herbal middle note is superb. Highly recommended; for me, this isn’t a cologne but behaves more like an EDT.
I added this flanker of the classic Eau Sauvage to my collection (with some hesitation), which I love. Personally, I still prefer the classic EDT because I adore that lemon scent, but Eau Sauvage Cologne has one clear advantage: its longevity, which comfortably surpasses the Eau Sauvage EDT. Incredibly, this perfume is labelled as a ‘cologne’ yet lasts longer than an Eau de Toilette; even up close, it has lasted me up to 10 hours. Simply inexplicable in this era of fragrances that don’t last what they should. Regarding the scent itself, it carries the DNA of its 1966 father but with an intense, powdery fusion of bergamot, grapefruit, and mandarin (replacing the lemons), before turning creamy in the dry-down, much like Dior Homme Cologne. Personally, I detect absolutely no vetiver here, despite it being listed in the notes.
I bought this BEAUTY today, the freshest and most perfect yet elegant citrus. I won’t say more: it’s worth every penny and lasts a long time. Gentlemen, this is a work of art with so few ingredients. At first, it seems very sharp, but let it settle and you will love it. This is perfect for a daytime wedding, with a white shirt, jacket, and cream trousers.
It evokes a Sunday morning in July or August, deep summer where you seek refreshing notes. A delightful citrus that demands reapplication for me, as it doesn’t last more than three hours on my skin, which is quite typical for this type of fragrance. It’s ideal for those who don’t like challenging perfumes; a safe gift, as it’s hard to find anyone who wouldn’t enjoy it. For me, it gives a good beating to Acqua di Parma Colonia at a much lower price.
I decided to buy this perfume blind: first because of the good reviews, and second because I liked the Homme Cologne, just as I did the classic Eau Sauvage, so I assumed they would share some qualities… Eau Sauvage Cologne is the most citrusy thing I have tried so far. It has a super sharp opening, something acidic that smells like squeezing grapefruit or lemon rinds in your hands and then rubbing them over your skin. Despite this, which can be aggressive, it is a very pleasant fragrance to wear, because after that opening there is a subtle green/floral touch that manages to turn everything into a creamier blend while still retaining that citrus zing in the background until the end. A curious thing I discovered that hasn’t happened with any other: it is a perfume that lingers in the air. I wore it from morning, several hours had passed at the office, and I started to smell less of it, so I sprayed two more in the afternoon before going out for lunch. When I returned to the office, as soon as I crossed the door, it was like walking into a citrus plantation. Shortly after, a colleague came to get something and asked, ‘And what about that perfume?’. Eau Sauvage Cologne took over my workplace. From then on, I learned that it is one of those fragrances that, no matter how much it seems to fade, or how much you yourself stop perceiving it, remains well present. Everyone will smell it, I assure you, especially in a closed environment. If you use Eau Sauvage Cologne, you are a walking lemon (I know it doesn’t have exactly that note), but let’s be simpler. And there is something I differ from the comments read: while I agree it can be ‘elegant’, I feel that, despite that, it is quite versatile. I do not see it as something exclusively for formal wear. I gave it to some friends to try and they liked it too much, more than I imagined… moreover, a female colleague at the office told me I ‘smell very good’ and she didn’t even have me in a suit or shirt on any occasion. I think it would go very well at the gym or simply when you want to feel fresh and in good spirits. It is excellent for warm seasons, full of energy, and has very good performance. I am already thinking about getting another bottle, although I bought the Homme Cologne and I also want to start using it. Best regards to all.
I decided to buy it blind: for the good reviews and because Homme Cologne and classic Eau Sauvage had pleased me, so I assumed they would overlap in some way. Eau Sauvage Cologne is the most citrusy thing I’ve tried. Super sharp and acidic opening, as if you were squeezing grapefruit or lemon peels and rubbing them on your skin. Despite being aggressive, it’s pleasant because later there are subtle green/floral touches that make it creamy, keeping that citrus bite at the end. The curious thing is that it lingers in the air: I wore it from morning, felt less at the office, sprayed two more in the afternoon and when I returned, crossing the door, it was like entering a citrus plantation. A colleague said ‘And that perfume?’. It took over my workplace. Although it seems to drop, it remains present. Everyone will feel it, especially in enclosed spaces. If you use Eau Sauvage Cologne, you’re a walking lemon. I differ from some comments: although it’s elegant, it’s versatile. It’s not just for formal use; I tried it on friends and they liked it too much. Female colleagues said ‘you smell very rich’ without being in a suit. It works well for the gym or to feel fresh. Excellent for warm seasons, full of energy and good performance. I’ll see if I can get another bottle.
A cologne with better performance than average. It smells slightly more contemporary than the Eau Sauvage EDT. I would use it perfectly. In fact, it would be the only one from the Eau Sauvage line I would wear. Elegant, neat, perfect for a white shirt and summer. Pure happiness.
Incredible performance from this ‘supposed’ cologne. I say ‘supposed’ because normally a cologne wouldn’t last a third as long as this. It has me hooked with its fantastic aroma and this incredible performance for such a citrus fragrance. I was eyeing Allure Homme Edition Blanche and Dior Homme Cologne, but after a recommendation from another collector, I tried this and ended up doubting whether to buy the other two, so I left the perfumer with empty hands. The next day, I reapplied my Sauvage and went for a walk. Five hours later, I returned to the perfumer and bought it without hesitation. A lost gem amidst the YouTube hype and its reviewers. Of the entire Sauvage line, this and the Extreme are undoubtedly my favourites. If you can try it, it does not disappoint.
Incredible performance for this ‘supposed’ cologne. Normally a cologne wouldn’t last a third of what this one endures. It has won me over with its scent and fixation, which is incredible for something so citrusy. I was heading for Allure Homme Edition Blanche and Dior Homme Cologne, but on a collector’s recommendation I tried this and ended up doubting the other two, leaving the perfumerie with empty hands. The next day I reapplied Sauvage and went for a walk. Five hours later I bought it without hesitation. A lost wonder amidst the YouTube hype. Of the whole Sauvage line, this and Extreme are my favourites. If you can try it, it doesn’t disappoint.
Fantastic, elegant, luminous and delicious. It has a classic touch but is also modern. A citrus wonder that oozes quality and naturalness. For spring and summer, among the best if you like citrus colognes and vetiver. It generates compliments and isn’t overused. A true masterpiece, far from the current sweet and artificial men’s scents. Longevity and projection are spectacular: on my skin it lasts 10 hours projecting well for the first three. I give it 10/10. Recently it has risen considerably in price in Spain, but it’s worth it for its scent and longevity.
Fantastic, luminous and delicious. It has that classic touch yet feels super modern. A citrus masterpiece smelling of quality and pure nature. Ideal for spring and summer; if you like vetiver-based colognes, this is the best. It generates plenty of compliments and is far from being trendy. A true work of art, worlds away from the sweet, artificial scents of current men’s colognes. The longevity and projection are spectacular. On my skin, it lasts easily 10 hours with strong projection for the first 3. I give it 10 out of 10. Recently, the price has risen quite a bit in Spain, but it is worth it for the scent and longevity. Best regards to all fragrance lovers.
The most authentic lemon scent imaginable. Elegant and timeless.
The most lemony lemon in the world. Elegant and classic.
This is as close as you’ll ever get to a Tyson knockout punch with a glove full of lemons. It’s powerful natural and overwhelming. It’s updated towards the citrus/green side and above all towards the musk. A musk that dominates putting that citrus and green part in the background from the first fifteen minutes until it starts to fade around the fifth hour. More or less. One of my favourite clean/citrus fragrances that I enjoy every time I press that wonderful spray that this house’s perfumes come with.
Closest to a Tyson straight right with a lemon-filled glove you’ll never experience. Potent, natural and overwhelming. Very updated towards citrus/green and, above all, musk. The latter takes over, relegating the citrus and green notes to second place from the first fifteen minutes until it starts to fade, around the fifth hour. One of my favourite clean/citrus scents; I delight every time I press that wonderful spray from this house.
Among the best and most elegant citrus perfumes. Freshness in a bottle. Fantastically recommended.
Just arrived I must test the performance better but what a good citrus. Excellent; Homme Sport 2021 seems more elegant to me while this Cologne looks more versatile; both denote the quality that only Dior can offer. Very satisfied it was a blind buy. For now I’m giving it a 7/10 because I need to test the performance; I’ll edit later but on first sniff I think it may have correct longevity though inferior to Homme Sport which performs very well. Cheers community.
It’s a fragrance spectacle. An explosion of the highest quality citrus masterfully accompanied by green aromatic notes and vetiver. It doesn’t resemble DHC although it plays in the same league as colognes. Eau Sauvage C is more elegant longer-lasting more versatile and less fresh yet still fresh. It resembles Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria Bergamot of Calabria but that one goes the volatile way whereas this has weight in the heart and base that make it on my skin last 8 hours without issues. For me the best of the four current Eau Sauvages although it’s true that all are superb. A magnificent fragrance the best of the best.
The best citrus in history (end of review). RE-EDIT: summery long-lasting elegant fresh. PERFECT. When DIOR wants to they do things like this. Aromatic quality and longevity in a citrus that smells more expensive than it costs and will never go out of fashion. This is concentrated luxurious summer in an EDT that performs like a parfum. 👔👕☀️🏖️🍋♾️ 10/10.
The best citrus from Dior I’d say in history but I want to be cautious as I haven’t tried everything. Very good longevity for a cologne 6/7 hours with moderate projection and good trail. If you like citrus this jewel cannot be missing from your collection. 11/10.
More than a citrus it’s a mid-range floral fragrance. The Hedione and petit grain notes are the protagonists; the citrus highlights at first but then they take control. It’s a well-blended fragrance where all the notes play on that semi-floral base giving it its own personality. That base is responsible for the good longevity as you can’t get rid of it which is very much appreciated. In short a good perfume but not what one expects given the notes or the comments. I recommend it but never blindly. Demanchy played a brilliant trick here masterfully blending the top middle and base notes to deceive untrained noses into thinking the citrus lasts much longer.
I agree with @Kerpin without being harsh. I’ve tried all the Eau Sauvages the early versions and this Cologne smells a bit like detergent to me. I don’t understand why people vote negatively against those who offer a contrary opinion. Do we have to praise everything that gets published? This scent mixes crisp green notes with something that isn’t the usual citrus; there’s a bergamot bitterness and peel and galbanum. There’s a hint of artifice; it reminds me at times of H24 by Hermès. The notes work in unison and the result is greener and drier than citrus. Nothing like the original Eau de Rochas PH which was an explosion of lemons. It’s not bad but dispensable; it falls short and feels artificial. There are other Eau Sauvages ahead.
I’m so smitten that I bought a backup bottle.
The name gives it away: it’s Eau Sauvage with a classic touch. The zesty citrus notes bring a lot of freshness and dial down the vintage vibe a bit. The original DNA is still there but with a more modern look. It remains elegant though for a slightly less mature crowd (not for teenagers). As it dries down it keeps the citrus touch but with less intensity drawing closer to the original. I believe it’s an improved and very respectful version. Much more wearable nowadays. Calling it the ‘best summer scent’ is subjective; it has aromatic quality like others. It’s excellent as a signature scent ideal for spring and summer but performs well all year round. Correct longevity and good projection.
