A very clear cinnamon opening that rises and falls. The carrot note is absolutely present. The iris smells like old lipstick. I love it; it’s sweet and soft, like eating a dessert with tea.

To me, Eyes Closed is the younger sibling of Bibliothèque. It has that childish touch of plasticine and cherry… a natural carrot cake, very little artificiality. And little else. I like cinnamon in smoothies or rice pudding, but not so much on the neck. As a concept, I expected more skin, more subtlety, something like the delicious carnality of Zadig’s Undressed, but it stops halfway between a cute snack café and a spice shop. It’s like a Starbucks cinnamon, tender with a minty citrus touch that doesn’t deceive. Probably cardamomo is the saviour that masculinises and cleans everything up, or the spicy ginger, which is so subtle here you barely notice it. Anyway, it’s like walking into Casa Ruiz wrapped in Ceylon cinnamon and baking powder. In this regard, it reminds me of Cacharel’s Lou Lou, another misunderstood perfume trying to emulate cake recipes. If you liked Eyes Closed, try Lou Lou afterwards, especially for the price difference. I don’t see it for myself, but for anyone who loves cinnamon, here is an ally.

It’s like a wooden house with a fireplace, surrounded by flowers, cups of hot tea, lit candles, and a cinnamon cake. The warmth of a home on a cold, dull day. That’s how it feels. Eyes Closed brings a earthy, woody, powdery iris alongside a strong spice combo and a refined patchouli. The opening is very spicy; although cardamomo is noticeable, the queen of the party is cinnamon. In the heart, the standout note is the iris root; it’s not floral, I feel it more earthy and dusty. The minty and spicy aroma of the blend is divine. As it develops, it becomes drier, sweeter, and cleaner. To me, it smells like Christmas. It’s not gourmand, but I almost feel like I’m baking a carrot cake with cardamom and cinnamon. It’s tranquil, timeless, and passionate. It gives warmth and comfort. Ideal for autumn/winter, unisex. Soft trail but moderate longevity, much better than other Byredos I’ve tried. It’s not a safe bet, but I think it will please lovers of iris and spicy/woody scents.
