  I perceive the accords and notes in this order: Leather, Ginger, Smoke. It’s a very pleasant and fresh combination, yet strong and somewhat dark due to that leather accord.

  Perfect for autumn and winter; I’m testing it at 14 degrees and it feels wonderful. The leather accord is reminiscent of Ombre Leather; here, the patchouli and resinous notes really come through. Although not listed, it evokes a dark tobacco and a hint of liquor, similar to Reserve Privé, Baraonda, and that line, but with more leather and less of that liquor sensation. It’s unisex, albeit on the darker side.

  A genuine animal leather scent, masculine and sensual, yet slightly challenging. It bears no resemblance to the Ombre Leather or Reserve Privé I’ve read about; this is more like a Texas cowboy in his leather jacket, hat and boots, ready for a drink with friends at the village pub. The longevity is brutal, lasting over 12 hours, and the sillage is enormous, which justifies the price, although with leather fragrances you almost always need to test before buying. Personally, I found it very little wearable, which is why I passed.

  Well, I was expecting something more striking and masculine. I bought it because YouTube reviews described it as animalic, masculine, smoky, and rugged, and I was surprised it was from CH, but I gave it a chance. As a leather lover and someone searching for the ‘holy grail’ of this note, I have to say it adds nothing new; it gave me the feeling of ‘I’ve heard this twenty times before’. It seems more unisex than I expected, with a very prominent floral presence. There is a leather accord that reminds me of Oud Stallion or Meydan, but what sets it apart are the base notes (those two feel greener and perhaps that’s why they seem more masculine). As they say, this leather is adorned with sweet nuances, like amber or liquor, and floral notes. Since I’m not passionate about those notes, neither am I about this perfume. I don’t find it particularly masculine, nor smoky, nor animalic. It’s not bad, it’s very well made (crafted to please), but as someone knowledgeable about leather, nothing makes it memorable. It reminds me of scents like Garçon Manqué or Cuir Intense by Guerlain (from the Absolus d’Orient collection), with the latter being undoubtedly my favourite of the three.

  What a lovely fragrance, a chypre wrapped in soft suede, far from anything greasy or tar-like. It’s a delicate and majestic floral suede, full of elegance and presence. It evokes more of an ‘echo leather’ than real leather; that simile can be precious if executed well, but ultimately it doesn’t smell of skin. The same goes for this warm perfume: no animalic notes, almost no leather. The osmanthus and patchouli give character to the floral heart. In short, a beautiful chypre, supposedly inspired by stables and life with those animals dear to Mrs Carolina. A noble version of her passion.

In short, a lovely chypre, supposedly inspired by stables and life with those animals that Miss Carolina so adores. A noble version of her passion.
