Ever since I dived into the world of incense, I’ve been hooked on that profile of conifers and balsams; there’s something hypnotic, a blend of mysticism and nature that keeps me coming back.

I now have several in my collection, from Montale’s Full Incense to Lattafa’s Hala, each with its own personality, some darker, others greener. At first, they fascinated me but I was wary they might be too intense for daily wear, until I told myself: ‘I’ll never run out of this!’. Over time, I found the sweet spot. With Hala, I learned its potency is a double-edged sword: two sprays at 20cm are enough for an elegant trail without being overpowering. I learned this the hard way when a colleague told me I’d splashed ‘the whole bottle’. 😵 The best thing about Hala is that it works as a luxury room freshener; in a diffuser, it fills the house with a cosy warmth. Unlike other Arab scents that can get muddy, Hala stays crystal clear: after months, it smells just like day one. It’s robust, woody, and free of harsh notes. Of course, it’s not quite the same as D&G’s Velvet Incense, which is another level entirely, but Hala offers an interesting incense profile at a price that doesn’t hurt, perfect for guilt-free wear or in a diffuser. Spraying the D&G would be almost sacrilegious. 😅 In the end, these fragrances are my allies for layering and changing the atmosphere; Hala isn’t just a perfume, it’s a bottled atmosphere.
