LAYR introduced Crystal Lace in 2026 as a fragrance for men and women, created by Steve Guo. The idea is lace-like transparency edged with something earthier.
Incense leads the opening, rose and peony shape the floral centre, while beetroot and vetiver define the drydown. Few notes, clearly arranged.
Incense sets the tone first, with smoky, balsamic facets lifted by a cooler, fresh current. The effect is veiled rather than dense.
Rose and peony then take over. The rose lends warmth and a whisper of spice, the peony a softer, more luminous and fluid quality.
Beetroot brings the turn towards the vegetal. Earthy and subtly sweet, it keeps the flowers from feeling too polished.
Vetiver, with amber warmth behind it, gives structure to the close. Floral brightness and gentle smoke remain in dialogue, kept precise by that fresh underside.
It should suit those who enjoy modern florals with character, fond of smoky, balsamic and green-earthy touches and of neat, well-drawn compositions.
